In the aftermath of George Floyd’s tragic death, Eve has been diving into some of the most challenging and uncomfortable discussions about race with her husband, Maximillion Cooper. During an appearance on The Talk, she shared how these conversations, though tough, have been incredibly enlightening. "It's a beautiful thing," she said, noting that it helps her understand the world from a different perspective.
"I don’t know what it’s like to live through his eyes, and he doesn’t know what it’s like to live through mine," Eve, 41, explained during the Tuesday, June 2, episode. "All he can do is try to understand and ask the right questions. He wants to get it, and that’s exactly what the nation—and the world—needs to do. Change isn’t easy. It’s going to feel uncomfortable, and that’s okay. We have to embrace that discomfort if we want to find real solutions."

Standing Together: Eve’s Inspiration from Peaceful Protests
Eve, best known for her hit song "Who's That Girl?", finds herself deeply moved by the protests that have erupted following George Floyd's death. Floyd, a security guard, tragically passed away on May 25 while being restrained by white police officers. In response, people across the country have taken to the streets demanding justice.

"There are people out there having beautiful, peaceful protests," Eve observed. "You see them standing together, fists in the air, hands in the air, all different races and genders united. They're on one knee, hoping to move past this moment. That’s what keeps me grounded and stops me from getting overwhelmed with emotion."
A Look Toward the Future: Eve’s Hopes for Change
As for the direction the nation is heading, Eve, star of Barbershop, expressed her hope that police brutality will soon become a thing of the past. "Right now, we're at rock bottom," she admitted. "But the only way to go from here is up. I pray that we can build something better from this point forward."
Love and Partnership: Eve and Maximillion’s Journey
Eve and Maximillion tied the knot in June 2014 in Ibiza, Spain. The rapper revealed that she knew Maximillion was the one when he saw her natural hair for the first time. "He’s probably the only guy who’s ever seen me like that," Eve joked during an appearance on The Real in November 2016. "I was getting my hair done, and he just walked in. I was like, 'What do I do? Run?' But he didn’t flinch. He was cool with it."
She continued, "He’s my first black guy, so we’ve been through a lot of learning together. He’s now fully educated on Weave 101. If I tell him I’m getting my hair done, his first question is always, 'How long is this going to take?'"
While Eve and Maximillion don’t have children together, she cherishes her role as stepmom to his kids—Jagger, Lotus, Mini, and Cash—from his previous marriage. For Eve, family extends beyond bloodlines, and she’s proud to be a part of their lives.
