In the AMC anthology series Dispatches From Elsewhere, Sally Field plays a character who seeks to infuse excitement into her mundane life by participating in a mysterious game. But for Sally herself, that's not an issue she can relate to. "I really don’t have a vacancy in my life," the Oscar-winning actress, now 73, said during the Winter Television Critics Association press tour. "If anything, quieting things down a bit would actually be beneficial for me!"
Sally Field is no stranger to staying busy. Last year was nothing short of hectic for her. Just three weeks before heading to Philadelphia to film Dispatches From Elsewhere, she had returned home from London, where she spent several months performing in a revival of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons on London’s prestigious West End. Her portrayal of Kate was so heartfelt that one theater critic described it as "superb." Sally reflects on the challenges of finding roles as a woman in the industry: "There’s always going to be a shortage of roles for women... so you take the work where you can get it." Despite this, she has no plans to retire. "I don’t see a cut-off date for myself," she admits. "I’ll keep going until I can’t anymore."
Family: The Heart of Sally's World
While her career keeps her invigorated, Sally’s greatest joy lies in her family. "The three things I’m most proud of in my life are my sons," she reveals. "They’re kind, loving, and incredibly productive individuals, each with their own unique talents and accomplishments." Sally’s eldest boys, Peter, 50, and Eli, 47, are from her marriage to Steven Craig. Peter is a successful screenwriter and novelist, while Eli has carved out a niche as both an actor and director. Her youngest son, Sam Greisman, 32, is a filmmaker and the product of her marriage to producer Alan Greisman, which lasted from 1984 to 1994.

Sally’s life is also enriched by her five grandchildren—Isabel, Sophie, Ogden, Noah, and Colin—who often visit her at her spacious home in the upscale Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. A close friend tells Closer Weekly, "She absolutely loves having so many grandchildren. She’s fun and goofy with them, making every moment count." Sally herself echoes this sentiment, saying, "My entire existence revolves around my kids and grandkids. I’m not married, and I don’t have a life separate from them. They’re my family, my everything."

Love and Friendship in Sally's Life
Though Sally had a long and memorable relationship with the late Burt Reynolds, she’s not actively seeking new romance. That said, she remains open to the possibility. "If she met someone special, she wouldn’t hide him," a friend explains. "At her core, Sally is an eternal optimist, but she’s also very content with who she is." Her life is filled with meaningful connections, thanks to her extensive network of friends in Hollywood, including her Forrest Gump co-star Tom Hanks and producer Steven Spielberg. "She’s not one for big parties, but she’s deeply connected to many people," the friend adds.
Quiet Time: Sally's Hobbies and Interests
When Sally does find moments of quiet, she uses them to indulge in her passions. Needlepoint, books, and gardening are just a few of the activities that fill her days. "She’s never idle; she’s always engaged," her friend concludes. And there’s still so much she wants to accomplish. "I want to learn how to play the piano—fast!" Sally exclaims. "Time’s ticking, and I don’t want to waste a second."
