Reese Witherspoon Credits Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton as Her Role Models
As she reflects on her journey in Hollywood, Reese Witherspoon reveals that her admiration for fellow actresses Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton runs deep. These iconic figures have inspired her to challenge societal norms and carve her own path. The star of "The Morning Show" recently confessed that she considers both Hollywood legends among her personal heroes. Their courage to defy expectations has left a lasting impact on Reese's career and personal values.
In a candid interview for the April 2020 issue of Vanity Fair, Reese, now 43, shared her thoughts on how Hollywood's objectification of women influenced her early years in the industry. “There was always pressure to cater to men’s magazines when I first entered the business,” she said. “But I made a conscious decision not to be part of that world. I never appeared in Maxim or was named a GQ girl, and I’m completely fine with that. That’s simply not how I want to be seen or how I view myself.”

Reese, known for her role in "Legally Blonde," emphasized her desire to be remembered for her talent rather than her looks. “Let’s face it, funny doesn’t sag,” she joked. “I’ve always wanted to be funny, you know? And if you stay funny, you won’t become obsolete. It’s the truth!” Reese added, highlighting her belief that humor and wit are timeless qualities that outlast physical appearance.

Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, and Other Inspirational Women
Reese went on to explain that Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton, both 74, alongside Holly Hunter and Nancy Meyers, have always inspired her. These women stood out in Hollywood for their intelligence and humor. “Let me tell you something that gets rendered obsolete: your body changes, your face changes, but humor stays with you forever. And those are my idols, my heroes,” she said with admiration.
It’s no surprise that Reese and Goldie Hawn have maintained a close bond over the years. At Goldie’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in May 2017, Reese delivered a heartfelt tribute, proudly wearing an “I Love Goldie” button. “I am her biggest fan, hands down,” Reese declared. “If you don’t believe me, my very first email address was overboard@aol.com. Goldie has been my inspiration since the day I first saw her on screen.”
