In her latest stunning coffee table book, Saved, Diane Keaton takes us on a visual journey through the images that hold deep meaning to her. From heartfelt tributes to iconic movies to artfully arranged photo negatives, this collection is a testament to her passion for visual storytelling. Among these treasures are personal shots Diane captured herself, including behind-the-scenes moments from the set of her films, such as the 1981 classic Reds.

At 76 years old, Diane expresses her profound appreciation for the gift of sight. "I really enjoy seeing. I guess my favorite thing in life is the fact that I can see," she shares with a sense of wonder. "It’s just so unbelievable. The world is full of beauty, and being able to capture and share it is one of the greatest joys of my life."

A New Chapter: Time for Passion Projects

With her children, Dexter, 27, and Duke, 22, now grown, Diane finds herself with more time to pursue her creative passions. Her Oscar-winning career has paved the way for ventures like Saved, which allows her to explore her love for writing and photography. "Diane is always busy doing something," reveals a close friend. "She’s passionate about capturing moments and telling stories through images. And let's not forget, buying, flipping, and selling properties is her most lucrative hobby!"

  • Real estate has become a central part of Diane's life. "Real estate is my obsession," she admits candidly. In 2017, she completed the renovation of her 8,000-square-foot dream house in Brentwood, California, a project that reflects her impeccable taste and dedication to creating a space that feels truly hers.

Life at Home: A Sanctuary of Love

Now that her daughter is newly married and her son is off at college, Diane shares her lush estate with her beloved golden retriever, Reggie. "Talk about unconditional love. Dogs don’t talk back. They’re so comforting," she says with a warm smile. "Human relationships can be complicated, but with a dog, it’s simple. They offer love without conditions, and that’s something truly special."

Reflecting on her past relationships, Diane acknowledges the challenges of dating within the entertainment industry. "I think I should not have been so seduced by talent," she reflects. "When you’re both doing the same job, it’s not so great. I should have found just a nice human being, kind of a family guy." Her list of famous loves includes Al Pacino, Warren Beatty, and Woody Allen, but she realizes now that perhaps her heart was better suited for someone outside the spotlight.

A Mother's Legacy: Raising Dexter and Duke

Diane's journey as a mother began when she adopted her daughter Dexter in 1996 and her son Duke in 2001, choosing to become a single parent. "Motherhood was not an urge I couldn’t resist," she explains. "It was more like a thought I’d been thinking for a very long time. Becoming a mom changed me in so many ways. It made me less selfish and more focused on nurturing and giving." Her close friend adds, "Diane is an amazing mother. She and Dexter text or chat every day. That’s how close they are." Meanwhile, her son Duke shares Diane's artistic eye. "He’s studying art and loves photography and fashion, just like his mom," the friend notes.

Love and Relationships: Doing Things Her Way

Diane jokes that she hasn’t been on a date in 35 years. "I have a lot of male friends, but no dates," she insists. Her daughter Dexter, however, would love to see her mom find love again. "It’s funny because Diane encouraged Dexter to try online dating, and that’s how she met her husband," confides the friend. "Dexter would put her mom on the dating apps, but Diane won’t let her. She wants to meet a partner privately and organically. When it happens, it happens." Diane is in no rush, embracing life on her own terms. "What is love between a man and a woman? It’s going to be up and down, and you’ve gotta really adjust to things," she reflects. "But you’ve got to still be charmed by them, and also still like the person."
