Let’s talk about Nick Lachey. The guy who stole our hearts on Love Is Blind and with his soulful voice in 98 Degrees. But here’s the thing—he didn’t always live the glamorous Hollywood life. Nick grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, but life had other plans. Fast forward to today, and Nick, along with his wife Vanessa, has found their happy place in the breathtaking paradise of Hawaii.
Why Did Nick and Vanessa Choose Hawaii?
You might be wondering, "Why Hawaii?" Well, it all started when Vanessa landed a role on NCIS: Hawaii in 2021. At the time, they were living the fast-paced life in Los Angeles. But hey, who wouldn’t want to trade the smog of LA for the fresh ocean breeze of O’ahu? Initially, they thought they’d just split their time between Hawaii and LA, doing the whole "travel-on-the-weekend" thing. But after just two weeks of flying back and forth, they realized that wasn’t sustainable. So, they made the bold decision to pack up their lives, sell their house, and fully embrace the Hawaiian lifestyle. And let me tell you, it was one of the best decisions they’ve ever made.
Vanessa opened up to Travel + Leisure about the move, saying, “We sold our house and now we’ve got Hawaii license plates!” She went on to explain how emotionally moving it is to live in such a beautiful place. “There’s a magic here,” she said. “When you live surrounded by the loving people of Hawaii, you can’t help but feel it and get moved by it.” Can’t argue with that, right?

Before Hawaii: Nick and Vanessa's California Adventures
Before their Hawaiian escape, Nick and Vanessa had a pretty sweet setup in California. They lived in Encino from 2011 to 2016, where they raised their three kids. Their Mediterranean-style home was a dream come true, featuring six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a billiard room, and even a basketball court. But like all good things, their time in Encino came to an end when Nick sold the house for $3.9 million in 2016. They weren’t done with California just yet, though.
After Encino, they moved to Tarzana, a suburb of Los Angeles. This home was another gem, purchased from NFL player Randall Cobb for over $5 million. Built in 2015, it had five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and two half-baths. But wait, there’s more! The kids got their own playhouse, and the whole family enjoyed a swimming pool, basketball court, and tennis courts. It was the perfect setup for a growing family. However, in 2022, Nick sold this home to tennis superstar Naomi Osaka for $6.3 million. Guess it was time to say aloha to a new chapter.

Nick's Roots: From Kentucky to Ohio
Nick’s story doesn’t begin in Hollywood or even California. He was born in Harlan, Kentucky, but his family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio when he was young. That’s where he spent most of his childhood and developed his love for music. Even after moving to Los Angeles, Nick and Vanessa kept their ties to Ohio, splitting their time between the West Coast and Cincinnati until 2016. Eventually, they decided to make LA their permanent home, but Nick didn’t sell his Ohio home until 2023, after settling into their new life in Hawaii.
