Why Robert Herjavec Believes in Spending Big

When it comes to spending, not everyone follows the same playbook. For Robert Herjavec, one of the most recognizable faces on TV and a successful entrepreneur, the philosophy is simple: if it makes you happy, go for it. Known for his sharp business acumen on Shark Tank, Robert has built an impressive empire through his ventures. In a candid interview with E! News, published on October 14, he opened up about his take on money and happiness.

"I'll buy anything that makes me happy," Robert shared, revealing his straightforward approach to spending. This mindset might come as a surprise to some, especially considering the financial discipline often associated with successful entrepreneurs. But for Robert, happiness and fulfillment take precedence over hoarding wealth.

From Software Pioneer to TV Icon: Robert's Journey

Robert Herjavec's road to success began in the world of software. At the age of 62, he's achieved remarkable milestones, including founding the internet security company BRAK Systems. His entrepreneurial journey took a major turn when he sold the company to AT&T Canada for over $30 million. This deal not only cemented his reputation in the tech industry but also provided the financial freedom to pursue his passions.

Different Strokes for Different Sharks: Spending Habits Among the Cast

While Robert's approach to spending is all about indulgence, some of his fellow Shark Tank cast members take a more frugal route. Mark Cuban, known for his sharp business instincts, revealed that he has never splurged on a watch. In fact, he shared a personal story about his decision to stop wearing one altogether.

"When I sold my first company at the age of 29, the only watch I ever owned was one my dad gave to me," Mark explained. "I took it off and put it aside, saying, 'Now that I’ve sold my company, I never have to work on anybody else’s time, so I’m never going to wear a watch again.'" This anecdote highlights Mark's unique perspective on time and freedom, reflecting his minimalist approach to luxury items.

Interestingly, Mark has announced plans to leave the show after season 16. Despite this, he'll join Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, Kevin O’Leary, and Daniel Lubetzky for one final season. Fans of the show will get to witness the legendary panel one last time before Mark departs.

Family First: Robert's Role as a Doting Dad

Beyond his business ventures, Robert is a devoted family man. He shares twins Hudson and Haven with his wife, Kym Johnson-Herjavec, and has three older children, Caprice, Skye, and Brendan, from his previous marriage to Diane Plese. Balancing his demanding career with family life, Robert ensures he remains an active and supportive father.

"My husband’s so supportive," Kym told Closer in March, praising her husband's hands-on approach. "He’s very involved and such a great dad." As Kym prepared for the premiere of her Lifetime movie Hunting Housewives, she expressed gratitude for Robert's unwavering support. "He’s like, 'Yeah, go do it. I’ve got the kids, it’s all good,'" she said, highlighting his commitment to her career aspirations.

"We moved to Canada four years ago, so I still get to see them when I wake up in the morning. They’re in bed by the time I get home from the sets, but at least I see them in the mornings," she explained.

Robert's encouragement extends beyond family life. When Kym decided to explore acting, he offered her invaluable advice. "He’s like, 'Don’t limit yourself, do it.' And it’s so true," she shared. "Life’s too short. If you want to do something, work hard, take lessons. I’m taking singing lessons every week and acting lessons, and it’s like, if that’s what you want to do, work hard and do it."
