When Blake Shelton first started dating Gwen Stefani back in 2015, he had no clue just how much of a positive influence he’d become in her kids' lives. The country music legend has grown into a cherished role model for Gwen's boys—Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo—and has embraced the responsibility that comes with being a stepdad.
"That moment hit me like a ton of bricks," Blake confessed during an appearance on TODAY with Carson Daly and Hoda Kotb on July 24, 2020. "It’s one thing to hang out with the kids all the time, being their buddy. But then you realize, they actually start listening to what you say. That’s a lot of responsibility!" At 44 years old, Blake admitted that stepping into this new role wasn’t something he took lightly.
Fun Times Mixed with Serious Responsibilities
But with all the seriousness comes a whole lot of fun. Blake opened up about how much he enjoys spending quality time with Gwen's boys, sharing experiences he’s always dreamed of having. "We’ve been doing things I wished I had time for over the last 20 years," he said with a smile. "Being around them has brought so much joy into my life."

A Perfect Retreat in Oklahoma
Blake especially loves having Gwen’s sons join him at his sprawling ranch in Oklahoma. Since the start of the pandemic in early 2020, Blake and Gwen have been spending most of their time there, creating unforgettable memories together. "We’re doing literally simple but amazing things, like picking blackberries," he revealed. "We even grew our own garden and planted several acres of sweet corn. It’s been such a refreshing change."
Not only does Blake cherish these moments, but Gwen feels just as thrilled about their time in Oklahoma. "She loves it here because there’s more space and plenty to do to keep the kids entertained," an insider told Closer Weekly in May. "They love jumping on Blake’s boat, fishing, and catching their own food. If the weather permits, they’ll grill it right after on the BBQ."
