Jonathan Knight, the talented musician and TV personality, found himself in the most unexpected of situations when he met his future husband, Harley Rodriguez. Here's the twist: Harley had absolutely no idea who Jonathan was when they first crossed paths. And guess what? That’s what made it so special.
Jonathan, now 55, rose to stardom alongside his brother, Jordan Knight, as part of the iconic '80s boy band, New Kids on the Block. They were the kings of pop, filling stadiums with fans who screamed their lungs out. But for Harley, none of that mattered because he simply wasn’t part of that NKOTB fanbase.
Jonathan’s Perspective: A Meeting Unlike Any Other
“It was the first night we met, and he had absolutely no clue who I was,” Jonathan recalled in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “And honestly, that’s what made it so cool. No expectations, just two people meeting for the first time.” This meeting wasn’t just a casual encounter—it happened during one of Harley’s fitness classes at Barry’s Bootcamp. Jonathan, taking a break from rehearsals, decided to try something new and ended up finding love instead.

Harley, now 51, was candid about his lack of familiarity with New Kids on the Block. “I’d heard their music on the radio here and there, but I wasn’t a fan. I never went to a concert or anything like that. Honestly, I didn’t grow up in that world,” he admitted. But that didn’t stop the magic from happening.
From Fitness Class to Front Row Seats
After their initial meeting, Harley received an invitation to Jonathan’s first show at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. It was a pre-tour event, and Harley attended with a friend. “Sitting there, I watched these girls down on the stage screaming, crying, holding posters. I turned to my friend and said, ‘Is this real? Are these women actually reverting to their 12-year-old selves?’” Harley recalled with a laugh. “It was amazing, but it wasn’t part of my upbringing. When Jonathan showed me all the merchandise they had, I was like, ‘Wow, you guys were huge!’”
Love Blossoms and Marriage Follows
Fast forward to 2016, and Jonathan proposed to Harley in Africa, setting the stage for a life filled with love and adventure. Six years later, in August 2022, the couple revealed that they had secretly tied the knot, without divulging much about the ceremony. “We did,” Jonathan told Entertainment Tonight. “But everybody just assumed we’re married, so, I never say yes or no ’cause I don’t wanna lie.”
As for planning a larger celebration, Jonathan hinted that it’s coming. Meanwhile, Harley updated his Instagram profile to reflect his new last name, Harley Knight-Rodriguez. Both Jonathan and Harley, who also competed on The Amazing Race in 2015, are thoroughly enjoying their married life. “It’s great,” Jonathan said in March 2023. “We’ve been together 14 years. It’s nice to find love. We found each other later on in life, which makes it even better. We both understand each other.”
Building a Life Together
Despite the challenges of Jonathan’s busy schedule on HGTV, where he works as a host for Farmhouse Fixer, their bond remains unshaken. Harley has even joined Jonathan in his new spinoff show, Farmhouse Fixer: Camp Revamp, which documents renovations at a picturesque lakefront campground. “Everything we do is geared toward the lake and the lake life,” Jonathan explained. “Some of these cottages have porches, and we really wanted to dress them up and give people a place to come and relax. What’s better than taking an afternoon nap on your porch?”
