Let’s talk about Clint Harp, the talented carpenter who became a household name on HGTV’s Fixer Upper. Working alongside the famous Chip and Joanna Gaines, Clint brought his woodworking magic to life for millions of viewers starting in 2013. But here's the thing—his story doesn’t stop there. By 2017, Clint had his own show on the DIY Network called Wood Work, this time alongside his equally talented wife, Kelly Harp. Together, they’ve built an empire in the world of home design, blending their skills and passion into something truly special.
How Clint and Kelly Found Each Other
Now, let’s rewind to the early ‘90s when Clint and Kelly were both students at Baylor University. They weren’t strangers—they’d crossed paths a few times, but fatefully, they were introduced properly in a mutual friend’s dorm room. And guess what? It didn’t take long for sparks to fly. In an interview with Country Living in May 2018, Clint shared how Kelly expressed her feelings: “She said, ‘I want you to know I don’t love you because of some fleeting feeling. I choose you. And when we have to fight through life’s challenges, I choose to fight them with you.’” Clint’s reaction? “I’ve won the lottery.” Talk about love!
A Love Story That Turned Into a Partnership
Fast forward to 2001, and the couple officially tied the knot. Before Clint became a TV star, he was a salesman in Houston, Texas. But here’s the kicker—he wasn’t content with that life. Clint had always dreamed of woodworking and furniture design, so he made the bold decision to quit his job and chase his passion. At the time, Kelly was running a small children’s clothing line, but together, they decided to take a leap of faith. They moved to Waco, Texas, where Clint searched for work in his dream field. Sure, it wasn’t easy—Clint struggled for months—but Kelly never wavered in her support. Her encouragement kept them going through the tough times.

The Big Break That Changed Everything
Clint reached out to Chip Gaines, who had already made waves with his company, Magnolia Homes, but didn’t hear back. Meanwhile, Kelly started taking classes to earn her master’s degree. One day in 2012, she suggested a family outing to the park with their two eldest kids, Hudson and Holland. On the drive home, Clint spotted Chip at a gas station. What did he do? He took a chance! Clint approached Chip and introduced himself, saying, “Hey, I’m a woodworker, and I left a message for a guy named Chip a few months back. Is he still around Magnolia? I’d love to talk about working together.”
That moment at the gas station was a game-changer. Clint soon joined the Fixer Upper team and later landed his own show, Restoration Road, on Magnolia Network. Alongside Kelly, they founded Harp Design Co., a business that crafts beautiful, handcrafted furniture tailored to their clients' needs. Kelly’s eye for design and her passion for beauty shine through in everything they create. And if that wasn’t enough, the couple welcomed a daughter, Camille, after finding fame, making their family complete.
Life in the Spotlight
Kelly, now a mom of three, often shares a glimpse into their life on Instagram, giving fans a peek behind the curtain of what it’s like to be a TV star. Clint credits Kelly for nudging him to follow his dreams, saying, “I never would have met Chip at that gas station if it weren’t for my wife and the journey we decided to take together. It’s been a mix of ups and downs, joy and struggle, but every step has been worth it.”
