Clint Eastwood Talks Retirement, Memorabilia, And Turning 90

Clint Eastwood Slams Retirement Rumors, Says He Likes Working

It seems like we haven’t seen the last of Clint Eastwood after all. The legendary Hollywood star—who’s set to celebrate his 90th birthday this May—has made it crystal clear that rumors of his retirement from the entertainment world are premature, to say the least.

Clint Eastwood Sets the Record Straight on Retirement

When asked about stepping away from the spotlight, Clint didn’t mince words during an appearance on This Morning on January 27. “I like doing it, it’s nice to have a paying job,” he quipped, adding a touch of humor to the conversation. “I enjoy being in films, and I love making them too. In fact, I started directing because I thought one day I’d look up at the screen and say, ‘That’s enough Eastwood; you’d better do something else.’ So, I figured if I direct, I can let other people take center stage while I still stay involved behind the scenes.”

Memorabilia That Stands the Test of Time

With a career spanning several decades, Clint Eastwood has left an indelible mark on cinema history. Fans might be surprised to learn that despite his vast collection of memories and achievements, there’s one special piece of memorabilia he treasures above all others: the iconic poncho he wore as The Man With No Name in Sergio Leone’s legendary Spaghetti Western trilogy. This unforgettable garment has become a symbol of Clint’s early days in Hollywood and continues to hold a special place in his heart.

When asked about the poncho, Clint shared, “Yeah, I still have it. It’s sitting there in a glass case, just like a museum piece. And guess what? It’s never been washed. I guess it’s like a time capsule of sorts, a reminder of where it all began.”

    A Quiet Birthday Celebration

As for how Clint plans to mark his 90th birthday, it seems like he’s not exactly looking forward to the hoopla. In fact, if it were up to him, he’d rather let the day pass by without much fanfare. “He probably won’t even want us to acknowledge it. He hates his birthday,” revealed his daughter, Alison Eastwood, in an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly. “I think it’s because he’s 90. He just wants to keep working and enjoying life, but he doesn’t seem too keen on celebrating. We’ve all tried to get him into the spirit, but he just won’t budge. So, we’ll see what happens.”

Despite his aversion to birthdays, Clint has found joy in a different area of life—being a grandfather. Alison, now 47, shared that her dad loves this role more than anything. “It’s just a lot of fun,” she said. “I think he enjoys it now, and I’m glad he’s settled down a bit. He’s found a new kind of happiness in being a grandpa.”
