Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos recently opened up about their daughter Lola Consuelos, who has some pretty thoughtful—and slightly cheeky—plans for their golden years. During an episode of Live With Kelly and Mark on January 30, the couple revealed how their middle child is already looking out for them in the most endearing way possible.
Being a Middle Child Comes With Big Heart
Now, here’s the thing about middle children—they often get overlooked, but they’re usually the ones holding the family together. Kelly, 54, and Mark, 53, couldn’t agree more. After reading a report that said middle children grow up to be better people, the duo decided to reflect on their "fantastic middle child," Lola. And boy, does she prove that theory right!
At just 23 years old, Lola isn’t just focused on her music career in London; she’s also thinking ahead to when her parents might need a little extra care. In true Lola fashion, she’s already planning for their retirement—and she’s making sure it’s nothing short of luxurious.

Meet the Consuelos Crew: A Family That Sticks Together
For those who don’t know, Kelly and Mark are parents to three incredible kids: their eldest son Michael, middle daughter Lola, and youngest son Joaquin. Each child brings something special to the table, but Lola seems to have a knack for keeping everyone entertained—and maybe even a little on edge with her retirement plans.
Mark jokingly mentioned, “She will be taking care of us,” to which Kelly chimed in, “She is going to definitely take care of us. She’s our hope for...” trailing off until Mark finished her sentence with a laugh, “Yeah, not putting us in a home.”
London Living and Luxury Retirement Homes
But here’s the twist: Lola isn’t just talking about any old retirement home. According to Kelly, their daughter has mentioned wanting to “put them in a home,” but it’s not the kind you’d imagine. Oh no, this is a “really nice one.” And guess what? It’s conveniently located right next door to her in London.
Mark added, “The one in London next door to her.” Turns out, Lola currently resides near a “retirement home for the elderly” that’s “very swanky” and “very gorgeous.” To drive the point home, she sends her parents daily videos of herself walking by the home, teasingly saying, “Mom and Dad, look where I am, your future residence.”
Kelly couldn’t help but admit, “But it does look nice.” Both she and Mark agreed that the place looks pretty fancy, and as a New Yorker, Kelly said, “I have no problem with that set-up. Whatsoever.”
Of course, Kelly and Mark’s current home in Manhattan is already pretty fancy. When they’re not busy filming episodes of Live, they love entertaining their celebrity friends and family in their stunning Big Apple pad. In fact, they gave fans a sneak peek inside their home in a video with Architectural Digest back in December 2024. The apartment features a cigar lounge, a gorgeous master bedroom, a beautifully decorated living room, and a dream kitchen.

Mark joked about the cigar lounge, saying, “This became the hangout room in the entire house, and it was initially thought of as just my space where I would go to smoke cigars.”
Kelly’s Thoughts on Retirement: It’s Always on Her Mind
Retirement is a topic that Kelly has touched on publicly before. In April 2023, she told Entertainment Weekly, “It’s so funny. Every time you get a new cohost, it’s like a little jolt of energy. But to be clear, I am always thinking about retiring. It is my favorite topic of discussion.”
In September 2023, Mark weighed in on Kelly’s retirement plans, saying, “I think it’s a real thing. She’s been at that for 23 years.” While he admitted that it probably won’t happen anytime soon, he made it clear that he fully supports whatever decision Kelly makes.
“When she does decide to walk away, no one’s earned it more than her,” Mark shared. “She’s been working her butt off since she was like 12 or 13 years old, and she got into the business at 18, and so it’s been a long ride. [But] she’s having a blast now.”
