Hoda Kotb Teases ‘Wellness’ Project After ‘Today’ Departure

As Hoda Kotb steps away from her iconic role on the Today show, she's making it clear she's not stepping out of the spotlight. In fact, she's got big plans that are just getting off the ground. Let me tell you, this isn't just any project—it's something Hoda's genuinely excited about, and she can't wait to share it with her fans.

Hoda Kotb's New Adventure

In a recent chat with People, Hoda Kotb, now 60, opened up about her upcoming plans, sharing her enthusiasm for a brand-new venture. “I have something that I am super excited about that’s in its infancy,” Hoda revealed. This isn’t just a casual side hustle—it's a deep dive into wellness. “It’s a whole wellness situation, and I got lit up by that just from stuff I’ve been working on and doing on myself,” she said. Hoda's always been about connecting with people, and now she's taking that passion in a new direction.

Wellness with a Personal Touch

Hoda explained that she’s been exploring various wellness techniques, especially breathwork, thanks to the influence of some incredible friends like Jenna Bush Hager and Maria Shriver. “And I’ve been loving it,” she shared with a smile. For Hoda, it’s not just about adopting wellness practices; it’s about understanding how they work and how they can benefit others. It’s about sharing her journey and inviting others to join her.

Hoda's vision extends beyond just a few workshops. She’s dreaming big with plans to create a comprehensive wellness app. But that’s not all—she’s also thinking about wellness retreats and other exciting initiatives. “I think it would be, number one, fun, and number two, helpful,” Hoda said. She’s noticed a shift in her own well-being and wants to help others experience the same. “When I learned some of these things, I was like, ‘Wait, why do I feel like my baseline feels less stressed? Why do I feel this way?’” she explained. It’s a journey of discovery, and Hoda’s excited to share it with the world.

While the project is still in its early stages, Hoda is committed to exploring the possibilities. “It is something that I’m excited about exploring and seeing what’s out there,” she said. This isn’t just a business venture—it’s a passion project born from her own experiences and a desire to make a difference.

    A Bittersweet Farewell

Just two weeks before announcing her new project, Hoda revealed she was leaving her long-time gig on the Today show. “As I write this, my heart is all over the map,” she wrote in a heartfelt letter to her NBC coworkers. “I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful one. And you all are the reason why.” Hoda acknowledged the bittersweet nature of her decision. “They say two things can be right at the same time, and I’m feeling that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show.”

Hoda admitted she had been pondering this decision for a while. It was on her 60th birthday that the clarity came. “I saw it all so clearly: my broadcast career has been beyond meaningful, a new decade of my life lies ahead, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie,” she wrote. Despite the sadness of leaving, Hoda expressed excitement for what’s ahead. “I will miss you all desperately, but I’m ready and excited.”

Reflecting on her time at NBC, Hoda expressed deep gratitude. “My time at NBC has been the longest professional love affair of my life,” she wrote. “But only because you’ve been beside me on this twenty-six-year adventure.” Hoda reminisced about the incredible journey, acknowledging the support of her colleagues. “Looking back, the math is nuts. 26 years at NBC News – Ten years at Dateline, seven on the seven o’clock hour, sixteen on the ten o’clock hour. I’m picturing your faces and your families and all the ways you’ve lifted me up and inspired me. That’s my heart singing. So many of my professional relationships have become some of my most cherished friendships.”

Fans don’t have to say goodbye to Hoda just yet, as her exit from the show won’t happen until January 2025. Until then, we can look forward to more of her incredible work and the exciting new chapter she’s about to embark on.
