Hey there, fans of Virgin River! Guess what? The much-anticipated season 7 of Virgin River is officially underway, and Netflix has been teasing us with a few juicy details about what’s coming up for our favorite characters. If you're as excited as I am, then let’s dive into what we know so far.
Season 7 Production: It's On!
Back in October 2024, the news broke that Virgin River would be getting a seventh season. And guess who confirmed it? None other than showrunner Patrick Sean Smith. He gave us a little sneak peek, saying that season 7 will pick up right where season 6 left off—with Mel and Jack’s wedding. Talk about drama and romance!
Patrick shared his excitement with Tudum, saying, "I think we’ve only just begun to see Mel and Jack function as a married couple, which is super exciting." Can you imagine? These two are finally tying the knot, and we get to watch their journey as a married couple unfold right before our eyes.

According to Tudum, the upcoming season will take us through the honeymoon phase of their relationship. They'll be building their lives together on the farm, but as with any relationship, there will be challenges along the way. Farm life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, folks!
Patrick reassured fans that Mel and Jack’s relationship is as solid as ever. "I can’t imagine creating a scenario where you think Mel and Jack are going to break up," he said. Instead, the show will explore deeper relationship issues, keeping that romance alive and well. Thanks to Alex and Martin’s incredible performances, the emotional stakes are always high, but the "will they, won’t they" drama is long gone. It’s all about the next chapter in their love story.
New Characters Joining the Cast
Season 7 is bringing some fresh faces to Virgin River. Let’s meet them!
Cody Kearsley is set to join the cast as Clay, a rugged and athletic guy who definitely makes an entrance wherever he goes. Clay’s backstory is fascinating—he grew up in foster care with a younger sister he hasn’t seen since he was a teenager. Now, he’s on a mission to find her. Clay also has experience working the rodeo circuit, adding another layer to his character.

Sara Canning will also join the cast as Victoria, an ex-cop who was shot in the line of duty and now works as an investigator for the state medical board. Victoria comes to Virgin River with a mission—to investigate Doc’s practice—but she might just reconnect with an old friend, or even explore something more. Intriguing, right?
Unfortunately, fans of Cameron Hayek will have to wait a bit longer to see him. Actor Mark Ghanimé won’t be returning as a series regular. However, Patrick Sean Smith assured fans that Cameron will always be part of the Virgin River universe. "He unfortunately won’t be a series regular in season 7, but I love Mark, and I love the character, so when opportunity presents itself, I’d love to have him back," Patrick told Deadline in December 2024.

Martin Henderson and Alexandra Breckenridge Spill the Beans on Season 7
Martin Henderson, who plays the beloved Jack, confirmed that filming for season 7 began in March 2025 with an enthusiastic Instagram post. "Season 7 of #virginriver !!!!! Day 1 – here we go……!!!! So stoked to be back at it doing what I love for all of you who love the show," he wrote. Martin expressed his gratitude to Netflix and the fans for their continued support, calling it "an honor" to bring this heartfelt show to life.
Alexandra Breckenridge, our favorite Mel, also shared a sneak peek on Instagram. In a playful video, she panned the camera around the set, asking fans where they thought the scene was taking place. "We must be in the cabin," she teased. "What do you think is happening in the cabin?" Fans are buzzing with theories, and we can’t wait to find out.
As of now, Netflix hasn’t announced an official premiere date for season 7, but we’re keeping our eyes peeled for updates. Stay tuned, Virgin River fans!
