Drew Carey Reflects on the Loss of Amie Harwick
Amie’s unexpected passing deeply affected Drew Carey, who opened up about the loss in a heartfelt statement to Closer Weekly. “Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime,” Drew shared, his voice heavy with emotion. “She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist.”
Drew continued, “I am overwhelmed with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie the privacy we need while we navigate this unimaginable situation.” His words reveal the depth of his pain and the profound impact Amie had on his life.
Amie Harwick's Journey and Legacy
Amie Harwick was set to marry Drew before their engagement ended in 2018. Prior to her relationship with Drew, she had been engaged to Nicole Jaracz, another chapter in her life that eventually came to an end. Amie was not only a beloved partner but also a dedicated therapist whose passion for helping others left a lasting legacy.
Tragically, Amie passed away on February 17, 2020, after falling from a balcony at her Hollywood Hills home. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that her injuries were consistent with a fall, following what they described as a possible altercation with her ex-boyfriend, Gareth Pursehouse. Pursehouse was later arrested on suspicion of murder and held on a $2 million bail.

The LAPD’s investigation uncovered evidence of a struggle inside the home, as well as forced entry. Detectives learned that Amie had previously expressed fear about her ex-boyfriend and had filed a restraining order against him, which had since expired. Despite her efforts to protect herself, tragedy struck when their paths crossed again.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Drew Carey and all those who loved Amie during this incredibly difficult time. Her light will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
