Hey there, music lovers! Today, I want to share with you the story of a true American legend, Loretta Lynn, who has been through the ringer and come out swinging. The Coal Miner's Daughter herself, now 87, is no stranger to challenges, having survived a stroke in 2017 and a hip fracture shortly after. But guess what? She's back, and she's not just surviving—she's thriving! In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Loretta proudly declares, “I’m feeling great! I tell my friends, ‘I’m coming back, honey! Y’all come and see me!’” This is the kind of resilience we all admire, folks.
A Legend Returns to the Stage
Now that Loretta's health is back on track, she's ready to hit the road again and do what she does best—perform for her fans. "I’m going to work a few more dates and have a good time," she says with a smile. "I’m looking forward to seeing all my friends again." It's clear that Loretta's love for her fans hasn't dimmed one bit, and her return to the stage is something we can all celebrate. It's not just about the music; it's about the connection she has with her audience, a bond that's as strong as ever.
A Family That Supports and Loves
Behind every great artist is a supportive family, and Loretta is no exception. Her four surviving children, including her twin daughters Patsy and Peggy, are her rock. "Patsy does my business work, and Peggy watches my medicine and everything else," Loretta shares with pride. "They’ve both got their own job when it comes to me, and they do it well!" This kind of family support is a testament to the strength and unity of the Lynn family. It’s not just about taking care of business—it’s about making sure their mom is happy and healthy.

A Tribute to Patsy Cline
Loretta has also taken the time to honor her late friend and mentor, Patsy Cline, in a very special way. Together with her daughter Patsy, she's co-written a memoir titled Me & Patsy Kickin’ Up Dust: My Friendship With Patsy Cline, which is set to be released on April 7. "I was telling her how I miss Patsy so much," Loretta explains. "We were like sisters through and through." The book is a heartfelt tribute to a friendship that changed Loretta's life forever.
Patsy Cline: The Mentor Who Shaped Loretta's Career
For those who don’t know, Patsy Cline was already a country-music star when she met Loretta, who was just starting out. "If she thought I was doing something wrong, she’d say, ‘It’s this way!’" Loretta recalls with a laugh. "She taught me everything I know about the music business. I thank God for giving that gift to me." Patsy wasn’t just a mentor; she was a guiding light, helping Loretta navigate the often-treacherous waters of the music industry.
Tragically, Patsy’s life was cut short in a plane crash in 1963 at the young age of 30, but Loretta cherishes the memories they shared. "She was a good cook—the first time I ever ate boiled shrimp was at Patsy’s house," Loretta reminisces. "We would play around and talk on the couch and be carrying on, then all of a sudden we’d be wrestling on the floor!" These moments of laughter and camaraderie were a cornerstone of their friendship, and they remain vivid in Loretta's mind.
A Friendship That Endured Through Life's Challenges
Life has its ups and downs, and Loretta and Patsy supported each other through it all. "We’d bounce off each other because we both had husbands we’d get mad at and tell off," Loretta shares with a chuckle. "And she was a great mother. The last thing I saw her do was bathe both her kids in the tub on the night before she was killed." It’s these intimate, heartfelt details that remind us of the humanity behind the music and the deep bond they shared.
Even after all these years, Loretta still feels Patsy's presence. "The first time I ever played Vegas, I was scared to death," she remembers. "I looked up, and there Patsy sat, with her legs crossed and her hands in her lap, looking down at me and grinning. I said, ‘Well, you are always with me!’" Loretta believes that Patsy’s legacy lives on, and she predicts, "I think God will send her back this way. And she will set the world on fire!"
