Let’s talk about John Tesh. Since he received the life-changing news that he was "cancer-free" back in 2018, the legendary TV star and musician has been on a mission to keep himself in top shape. In an exclusive chat with Closer Weekly, Tesh opens up about his daily routine and how he's sticking to a regimen of healthy eating and regular exercise to maintain his well-being. It’s a journey that shows just how determined this guy is to stay healthy and strong.
A Support System That Keeps Him Going
Now, John Tesh isn’t doing this alone. At 67 years old, he says he doesn’t have any strict dietary restrictions, but he does have a powerful support system in place. His wife, the beautiful and talented Connie Sellecca, and his stepson, Gib Gerard, play a big role in keeping him on track. This support became especially crucial during the quarantine period when the world was dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. Having loved ones around to help you stay focused? That’s invaluable.
Adopting the Ketogenic Diet

When it comes to diet, John reveals that both his wife and stepson are following the ketogenic diet, a program that focuses on eating very low carbs and high fats. "I was on it when I was sick," he shares, "but even now, I eat pretty well." It’s clear that Tesh is making conscious choices about what he puts into his body, and that’s a big part of his overall health strategy.

Outdoor Exercise: The Key to Staying Fit
For John, who was once a star on Entertainment Tonight, the gym isn’t exactly his go-to spot these days. Instead, he’s found a way to stay fit outdoors. Living on a piece of land with about 150 steps leading down into a valley, Tesh makes sure to tackle those stairs every single day. He says, "If I don’t get up at 4:30 or 5:00 a.m. to exercise, my whole day feels off." This daily routine keeps him grounded and focused, and it’s something he’s committed to no matter what.
Life After Cancer: Staying Grateful
Aside from staying on top of his health, John Tesh’s schedule hasn’t changed much. In fact, he says it’s just busier now. But even with the added workload, he remains incredibly grateful for the opportunity to keep doing what he loves. Tesh, along with Connie and Gib, even hosted a six-hour live Facebook fundraiser in late April to support frontline workers during the pandemic. That’s the kind of guy he is—always looking for ways to give back and help others.
