Jennifer Garner, Amy Adams Team Up to Help Kids During Coronavirus

In the midst of the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic, Hollywood stars Amy Adams and Jennifer Garner have joined forces to support children in need. The American Hustle actress revealed that they're partnering with Save the Children and Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign to provide meals for children who are at home due to nationwide school closures.

“Hey everyone, I finally decided to join Instagram to shine a spotlight on kids across the country who need our help and support during this challenging time,” Amy, 45, shared in an IGTV video posted on March 16. “My friend Jennifer Garner and I are launching a new initiative called Save With Stories, where your favorite celebrities will read your favorite children’s books. This is more than just entertainment—it’s about making a real difference.”

I’ve decided to finally join to shine a spotlight on kids across the country who need our help and support during this difficult time. My friend @jennifer.garner and I are launching @SAVEWITHSTORIES – a spot to watch your favorite celebrities read your favorite children’s books. We are galvanizing as a community to support a new fund for a combined effort between SAVE THE CHILDREN and Share Our Strength’s NO KID HUNGRY (and a big thank you to our founding publisher, Scholastic♥️).

Addressing the Growing Concern for Children

Amy emphasized the alarming reality that “thirty million children in the United States rely on school for food,” which creates a significant issue as states and communities take steps to limit the spread of COVID-19. Measures such as school closures, canceling public gatherings, and modifying public transportation are being implemented to reduce human contact. However, these actions leave many families struggling to ensure their children are fed.

Joining Forces for a Greater Impact

“We are bringing together a community to support a new fund that combines the efforts of Save the Children and Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign,” Amy continued. She expressed gratitude to Scholastic for being the founding publisher of the initiative. “This fund will ensure families know where to find meals when schools are closed. It will also support mobile meal trucks, food banks, and other community feeding programs,” she explained.

Amy, a proud mom to nine-year-old Aviana with her husband Darren Le Gallo, noted that the campaign will also “provide educational toys, books, and worksheets to support out-of-school programs, helping kids catch up on lost classroom time.” Her commitment to the cause is inspiring, as she highlights the importance of addressing both the physical and educational needs of children during this crisis.

Responding to the needs of kids during school closures, @savethechildren and @nokidhungry have a new fund @SAVEWITHSTORIES to support food banks, and mobile meal trucks, and community feeding programs with funds to do what they do best—and also—with educational toys, books, and worksheets to make sure brains are full, as well as bellies.

    Hollywood Steps Up

Amy and Jennifer aren’t the only Hollywood figures stepping up during this unprecedented time. On March 16, Arnold Schwarzenegger used his pet donkey and pony to deliver a public service announcement encouraging people to stay at home. Donny Osmond also shared tips for battling loneliness and isolation as social distancing measures were enforced to help contain the virus.

Amy concluded her post by encouraging others to contribute: “If you can manage a one-time gift of $10, please text SAVE to 20222. If another amount works better for you, visit our website—link in bio. There’s no maximum or minimum—let’s rise together and help those in need.”
