Picture this: Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, a power couple who’ve been together since 1983, are now the proud grandparents of seven little bundles of joy. To their grandkids, they’re not just Goldie and Kurt—they’re Gogo and Gogi, the heart and soul of their big, loving family. “When I look at our kids and grandchildren, I feel a sense of pride so deep that nothing else in this world can compare,” Goldie shares with a warm smile. And it’s clear that being grandparents is one of the most fulfilling roles they’ve ever taken on.
A Family That Truly Sticks Together
Their family tree is as diverse as it is close-knit. It includes Kate Hudson’s three kids—Ryder, 18, Bingham, 10, and Rani, 3—as well as Oliver Hudson’s trio of Wilder, 14, Bodhi, 12, and Rio, 8. Then there’s Wyatt Russell, Goldie and Kurt’s son together, who celebrated his little one, Buddy’s, first birthday in March with wife Meredith. “Our family is incredibly tight-knit,” Wyatt says with pride. “My parents are not only amazing people but also some of the best grandparents you could ever ask for.” And let’s not forget Kurt’s son Boston, 42, from his marriage to actress Season Hubley. This family is nothing short of extraordinary.
Gathering the Troops: Vacations and Get-Togethers
Goldie and Kurt are all about making memories. They organize family vacations a few times a year, often heading to Aspen, where they own a cozy home, or to the stunning beaches of Hawaii. But it’s not just about the big trips. They also host frequent gatherings at their L.A. estate, creating a space where everyone feels welcome and loved. “They probably see Kate and Oliver’s kids the most because they live nearby,” a close family friend reveals. “But they don’t let much time go by without seeing all their grandchildren. Every moment with them is cherished.”

Sleepovers at Gogo and Gogi’s: Where Fun Never Sleeps
Spending the night at Gogo and Gogi’s house is an experience in itself. It’s what you’d call “organized chaos,” but in the best way possible. “Goldie will put on music for any occasion and dance with the kids,” the friend explains. “She’s got that youthful energy that keeps everyone entertained.” Meanwhile, Kurt loves keeping things active. Whether it’s taking the grandchildren hiking or going on bike rides, sports are a big part of their time together. “He’s always encouraging them to stay active and have fun,” the friend adds.
Watching Them Grow: A Source of Endless Joy
There’s nothing Goldie and Kurt enjoy more than watching their grandkids grow into their own unique personalities. “They don’t play favorites—they genuinely love each one of them,” the friend confides. But there’s something special about Ryder, Kate’s eldest son from her marriage to Chris Robinson. “Ryder is like a mini-Kurt,” the friend says with a laugh. “He’s funny, loves attention, and often turns to Kurt for advice. They’re super close, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Ryder followed in the family’s acting footsteps. Some of the other grandkids might catch the acting bug too!”
Goldie’s Special Bond with Her Granddaughters
Goldie has a special connection with her granddaughters, Rio and Rani. “She loves all the kids, of course, but there’s just something extra special about her bond with the girls,” the friend shares. “They look so much like her, and they absolutely adore her. It’s beautiful to see.”
Goldie’s Mission: Spreading Mindfulness to the Next Generation
In 2003, Goldie founded the not-for-profit foundation MindUP, dedicated to teaching children mindfulness techniques to help them manage stress. “It’s become my life’s mission,” she says. And she doesn’t stop there—she loves sharing these skills with her own grandchildren. “Goldie radiates compassion and goodness,” the friend explains. “She’s always been that way, and now she’s passing it down to the next generation. Kate, Oliver, and Wyatt are thrilled that their kids get to experience the ‘Goldie magic’ she brought to their own childhoods. There’s no doubt it will continue with the grandkids.”
For Goldie, being a grandmother is nothing short of amazing. “It brings so much joy to my life,” she says with a twinkle in her eye. “I feel incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful family.”
