Even the biggest stars face personal challenges, and Drew Barrymore is no exception. The beloved actress recently revealed her own struggles with weight in an open and heartfelt post on Instagram. Let's dive deeper into her story and how she’s learned to embrace herself.
Drew Barrymore’s Honest Take on Weight Fluctuations
On February 19, the 44-year-old actress posted a candid pair of side-by-side photos showcasing her body’s natural ups and downs. In her caption, Drew shared, “I go up and I go down. The rollercoaster of my body is a challenging, but beautiful ride.” She went on to express her gratitude for her two daughters, saying, “The single most important purpose for me being on this planet is for them! It’s a true miracle I was able to have these two girls. So whatever the aftermath on my body, well, bring it on!”
The Emotional Struggles Behind the Scenes
In her post, Drew also opened up about the emotional toll that fluctuating weight can take. She admitted, “There have been times I’ve stood in my closet and just cried. Hated getting dressed. Didn’t feel good!” Despite these moments, Drew emphasized the hard work it takes to maintain her appearance. “It takes so much for me to look decent. I have to eat just right and work my ass off! I cannot fight the fact that I have the propensity to be the Pillsbury dough boy! (Now all I can think about is crescent rolls).”

Drew also offered some words of wisdom for her followers. “So DON’T be fooled by what you see when people are thin right after baby. Don’t compare yourself to the magazines and the red carpets.”

Discovering Balance at 45
For Drew, who shares daughters Olive and Frankie with her ex-husband Will Kopelman, finding balance has been a lifelong journey. “If I looked decent on anything I’ve done since I had my two kids, I’ve clawed my way there. You can too!” she encouraged her followers. However, she acknowledged the difficulty of maintaining this balance, saying, “It’s hard to sustain and can take a lot of the joy out of life with food. But not anymore. NOW I’ve found that elusive B called BALANCE. 45! It only took 45 years to find myself. Right where I’m supposed to be. … And it’s not perfect. But it’s me.”
