Hey there, friends! Jenna Bush Hager recently took the chance to clear up some rumors during an episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna on Wednesday, August 14. She revealed why she hasn’t been wearing her wedding ring lately and also shared the story behind that black eye.
Alright, so here's what happened. Jenna was chatting with her co-host, the wonderful Hoda Kotb, and she started explaining. “So, I jumped into the ocean, and I lost this necklace that’s super lucky for me, OK?” she said. “And then, things just started going downhill. I tripped, got a black eye, broke my ring finger… So, some of you might’ve been wondering, ‘Is she splitting with her husband?’ And the answer is a big, fat ‘No.’”
Life's Little Mishaps
Jenna has been happily married to Henry Hager since 2008, and they've got three amazing kids together: Mila, Poppy, and Hal. Hoda, who’s 60, was totally surprised by Jenna’s string of bad luck and wanted to see how her finger was doing.

“You broke it?” Hoda asked, clearly shocked. Once she took a closer look at Jenna’s finger, she couldn’t help but comment on how swollen and bruised it looked. “Oh, it’s really big, still!” Hoda exclaimed.
“Yeah, Henry thinks I just sprained it, but it was blue!” Jenna admitted. Hoda, ever the supportive friend, chimed in, “Well, it’s fractured for sure.”
Why the Wedding Ring is Missing
Jenna’s finger is so swollen that there’s no way she can wear her wedding ring right now. That’s why it’s been missing from her appearances on Today. Jenna went on to explain that she thinks all her recent bad luck started when she lost that special necklace.
“I’ve got a little black eye,” she pointed out while showing it off. “And guess what? All these things started happening right after I lost that necklace.”

Later, Jenna recalled a conversation she had with her 11-year-old daughter, Mila, after losing the necklace.
“I told Mila, ‘I’ve had some bad luck lately, and maybe it’s because I lost my lucky necklace,’” Jenna laughed. “And Mila said, ‘Were you super stressed after losing it?’ And I said, ‘No!’ Not until all the bad stuff started happening.”

Is the Bad Luck Over?
Hoda chimed in, “Are we done? Is the bad luck over? Are we done with the bad?”
“I hope so! I can’t predict that. But doesn’t it feel like Mercury has been in retrograde? Well, it has been, according to some people,” Jenna added.
“Everything is in retrograde,” Hoda said. “If you're feeling a little off, you're not alone.”
Jenna also talked about why she’s never shy about sharing personal details about her family on Today.
“My husband always says, ‘What? Why did you say you think it’s great when other girls have crushes on me? People are coming out of the woodwork!’” Jenna told Us Weekly. “I’m like, ‘I didn’t know that would be a thing. I just meant I think you’re cute, and if other people do too, that’s great.’”
She also mentioned the time she read a letter from Mila on-air while Mila was away at camp, leaving her daughter “humiliated.”
“As my kids get older — and Hoda and I talk about this all the time — we try to figure out what’s their story to tell and if we’re ever stepping over something that might make them feel bad later because things exist forever now, unlike when we were growing up,” she explained.
