The Origin Story: How Mina and Steve Met
Let me take you back to 2013, when Mina and Steve first connected on Facebook. It wasn’t love at first sight, though. They realized they had mutual friends and decided to meet in person at a basketball game. Now, here’s where things get interesting. Their first encounter was a little rocky, to say the least.
“He ignored me all night!” Mina recalls with a laugh. “And to make matters worse, he let his friend hit on me!” Can you imagine? But here’s the thing—Mina didn’t let that one bad date deter her. She gave Steve a second chance, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions she ever made.

The two hit it off, and before long, Steve was meeting Mina’s mom, Karen E. Laine, who’s also her business partner on Good Bones. Fast forward to March 2015, and Steve proposed to Mina at the Indianapolis Colts training field. Talk about a dream proposal! A little over a year later, they tied the knot in Indianapolis, surrounded by family and friends.
After getting married, Mina and Steve purchased a lot of land in the Fountain Square neighborhood, where they built their dream home. Mina couldn’t have been happier. “This is the neighborhood that Mom and I do a lot of our renovations in,” she said. “It’s where we currently live, and the neighborhood is truly our home. I can’t imagine living anywhere else.”
Growing Their Family: Are There Kids in the Picture?
Of course, their story doesn’t end with marriage. In August 2018, Mina and Steve welcomed their first child, a son named Jack. Their family grew even more in September 2020 with the arrival of their daughter, Charlotte. Mina couldn’t contain her excitement when she shared the news. “She’s here! And she’s perfect!” she gushed. “We are just obsessed with our little family and can’t wait for Jack to be the best big brother to sweet Charlie.”

Mina made the announcement on her podcast, Mina AF. “Today, I filmed my last few pickups for Good Bones. Not Good Bones season 8, but for Good Bones. So, it is official, that’s a wrap, folks,” she said. But don’t worry—this isn’t the end of their story. It’s just the beginning of something new.
A few weeks later, Mina and Steve opened up about another significant decision in their lives: quitting alcohol. “I realized that I don’t want to give my children a reason to not have a relationship with me,” Steve explained. “So many people my age and the generation before me have these gap years in their relationships with their parents. I don’t want that for my kids.”
Steve has been sober for two years, and Mina has only had a few alcoholic drinks in that time. It’s a decision they made together, and it speaks volumes about their commitment to each other and their family.
