It turns out Savannah Guthrie already knows the way to Sesame Street! The beloved Today co-anchor recently shared an adorable video of herself jamming and dancing alongside the iconic puppets Elmo and Grover. In a playful Instagram post on Monday, March 11, Savannah, 52, announced her upcoming summer appearance on the long-running children's show, and her fans couldn't be more excited. "Hung out with some old friends today," Savannah wrote, showing off her radiant smile next to the fuzzy duo. "Coming this summer on @sesamestreet!!!" she added, sparking a wave of excitement and support from her followers in the comments section.
Savannah's appearance on the legendary Sesame Street is just the latest highlight in her ever-expanding career. While she's best known for brightening our mornings with the latest news on NBC's Today Show, Savannah has been venturing into new territory lately. This time, she's traded the anchor desk for the spotlight, making headlines in a different way.
From Morning News to Children's Television
Savannah's recent activities have been nothing short of impressive. Just a few weeks ago, she released her latest book, Mostly What God Does, and embarked on a nationwide book tour. She took a brief break from her duties on Today, stepping away on March 1, before returning alongside cohost Hoda Kotb on March 4. Her absence wasn't entirely unexpected, as she had already missed work on February 16 and February 19, juggling her book responsibilities while maintaining a low profile amid the controversy surrounding her February 15 interview with Kelly Rowland.

It wasn't all smooth sailing during this busy period. Just before Kelly Rowland was set to cohost on Today, Savannah interviewed her in the dressing room. Things didn't go as planned, and Kelly left early, leaving the show scrambling. Thankfully, Rita Ora, who was scheduled to perform that day, stepped in to save the day. Despite this hiccup, Savannah quickly bounced back, focusing on her book's release and receiving support from her Today colleagues.
A Heartfelt Message Through Savannah's Book
In a candid interview with USA Today on February 20, Savannah opened up about the inspiration behind her new book, Mostly What God Does. She described it as a deeply personal collection of reflections on faith, vulnerability, and the promise of God's presence in our lives. "This book is a series of reflections about faith, and it's from the heart," she explained. "It’s really vulnerable and personal. And it’s that way because in so many ways, this is the book that I need to read. … I need to be reminded, like we all do, that God loves us and is on our side and has an eternal promise to be present to us. It’s not a promise that everything’s going to work out our way, or on our timing, or that we’re just going to crush life. It’s simply a promise that I am here for you. And I’m here with you."
However, the Kelly Rowland controversy wasn't the only challenge Savannah faced. Shortly after the book's release, an online scam emerged, with counterfeit versions of a workbook linked to her name being sold. Determined to set the record straight, Savannah took to social media to warn her fans. "PSA — so many fakes out there! I didn’t write anything other than the book Mostly What God Does — no workbooks, no studies, no nothing!" she wrote on February 25. Thankfully, her upcoming adventure on Sesame Street with some of the cutest furry creatures might just be the perfect way for her to turn things around.
