Carson Daly Opens Up About His Unique Sleep Routine With Wife Siri Daly

Here's Why Carson Daly and Wife Siri Pinter Sleep in Separate Beds

When it comes to unconventional routines, Carson Daly is no stranger to breaking the mold. The charismatic host of "Today" recently shared his and wife Siri Daly's somewhat unorthodox nightly tradition: they don't always sleep in the same bed. This arrangement, it turns out, works wonders for their relationship.

Why Sleep Separately? Carson Explains It All

“It’s been a real game-changer for us,” Carson told People on a Monday back in April. “We don’t do it every single night, but a couple of times a week, it’s what works best. For example, if I’m in the mood to watch a late-night Islanders hockey game, I’ll head into the guest room. Meanwhile, Siri retreats upstairs to enjoy a good book or binge-watch her favorite series.” It’s a routine that keeps both of them happy and well-rested.

Sleep Divorce: The Daly Way

At 50 years old, Carson Daly wholeheartedly endorses what he calls “sleep divorce” from a spouse. It might sound drastic, but the host of "The Voice" swears by it. Carson and Siri Daly, a chef, first crossed paths in 2005 when she was working as a writer's assistant on his late-night show, "Last Call With Carson Daly." Their love blossomed, and they welcomed their first child, Jackson, in 2009. Their family grew with the birth of Etta in 2012. Carson and Siri tied the knot in 2013, and their third child, London, arrived shortly afterward. Goldie, their fourth child, came into the world in March 2020.

  • Throughout their journey together, Carson and Siri have faced their fair share of challenges, including sleep-related issues. “I have sleep apnea, and when Siri was pregnant, we were going through a home renovation. We ended up downgrading to a queen-sized bed,” Carson shared on "Today" back in November 2019. “We just figured out that we’re better off sleeping in separate beds.”

    The CPAP Chronicles

Carson humorously compares wearing his CPAP machine to being Darth Vader because, as he puts it, “It makes all sorts of noise.” There was even a time when the CPAP machine broke, causing his snoring to return with a vengeance. This prompted Carson to make the wise decision to relocate to the guest bedroom for the sake of everyone's peace and quiet.

“Most women would probably prefer to sleep in another bedroom. … Even though I don’t snore anymore, the noise from the machine can keep her up,” Carson explained, highlighting the practical reasons behind their decision.

With the arrival of Goldie in March 2020, their Long Island home has certainly become livelier. Despite the growing crowd, Carson and Siri continue to prioritize their separate sleeping arrangements whenever possible. “I got served my sleep-divorce papers a few years ago,” Carson joked to "Today" in June 2022. “And you know what? It’s been the best thing that ever happened to us. We both sleep so much better when we’re apart.”

    The Importance of Rest

Carson emphasizes the importance of getting quality sleep, especially given their demanding schedules and the responsibilities of raising four children. “When you’ve got four kids, it’s crucial to ensure you’re both getting good rest. We’re secure enough in our relationship to know this isn’t a sign of anything serious. We just sleep better this way,” he said.
