Hold onto your hats, folks, because here's a juicy twist in the world of TV reboots. According to Mindy Cohn, the beloved Facts of Life alum, there was once a serious plan to bring the iconic show back to life. But guess what? It didn’t happen—and the reason why is a story worth hearing. Mindy didn’t mince words when she said that one of her former co-stars sabotaged the whole thing by being, well, a "greedy bitch."
Live Versions of Classic Shows: The Hype Train Rolls In
Now, let me set the stage for you. A while back, ABC brought back some of its most iconic shows in live versions, featuring big-name stars. These weren’t just reruns—they were full-blown remakes, and they were a hit. Norman Lear, the mastermind behind so many classic sitcoms, saw the success of these live specials and decided it was time to revisit the world of Facts of Life. He gathered Mindy, along with Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields, and Nancy McKeon, to talk about bringing the show back.
On SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live, Mindy, now 58, shared her thoughts about the whole experience. “You know they were doing the live versions of Norman Lear’s sitcoms with all these big stars?” she said, clearly still buzzing about the excitement of the moment. The live remakes of shows like Diff’rent Strokes and Facts of Life were a huge deal, and Lear wanted to ride that wave of nostalgia.

The Reboot Talks Begin: Zoom Calls and Creative Sparks
According to Mindy, the initial discussions were promising. “We had all never really talked about it, but we all started to consider it a little bit,” she recalled. “We got into talks and we hired a writer. The four of us got together on a Zoom—this was during COVID—and we had meetings with Norman about it.”
It seemed like the perfect storm of nostalgia and creative energy. But then something went sideways. “It wasn’t me, I’ll put it that way,” Mindy revealed. “One of the girls went behind our backs to try to make a separate deal for a spinoff deal just for herself and devastated the rest of us.”
The Fallout: A Friendship Tested
Oof, that’s rough. Mindy didn’t hold back when she described her feelings about the betrayal. “I’ll say it, she’s a greedy bitch,” she said bluntly. “Now, we do [talk] ish, but it was an ouch.”
It’s clear that this betrayal left a mark. For decades, the Facts of Life cast had maintained a united front, never speaking ill of one another. But this incident shattered that harmony. “We were united for 40 years over not talking about each other, not doing dirty [and] all-for-one, one-for-all,” Mindy lamented. “This kind of wrecked that, which is sad.”

Mindy didn’t name names, but she dropped a hint for eagle-eyed fans. “It’s not me, and if you go on my Instagram and see [who I hang out with more], I will not deny or confirm,” she said cryptically. She expressed shock at how someone could prioritize money or fame over genuine friendships. “It always just kind of shocks me. You’re gonna do that over money or that over becoming famous? It always just kind of freaks me out that people will do that [and] throw deep true friendships, under the bus for a dollar.”
None of her other Facts of Life co-stars have commented publicly since Mindy’s explosive interview. For now, it seems like the reboot is firmly in the rearview mirror. “It’s very dead,” Mindy confirmed. Sad news for fans who were hoping to revisit Eastland School and its beloved characters.
