It’s not every day you get to hear a celebrity chef open up about his personal life. Food Network’s Bobby Flay recently sat down with Kristin Cavallari on her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast to talk about his past relationships and where he stands on love and marriage today. At 59 years old, Bobby has seen his fair share of ups and downs when it comes to love. So, what does he think about tying the knot again? Let’s dive in.
Kristin Cavallari Gets Straight to the Point
Kristin Cavallari, 37, wasted no time asking the big question during the October 29 episode of her podcast. “Bobby, do you ever see yourself getting married again?” she asked point-blank. Now, that’s a bold question, but it’s exactly the kind of honesty we’ve come to expect from Kristin. And Bobby didn’t hold back with his response.
“Is it completely off the table? If you asked me today, I’d say probably yes,” Bobby admitted. “For me, marriage hasn’t exactly been a smooth ride. But honestly, I don’t feel like I need to rush into it again. I’ve got an amazing daughter who’s all grown up now. Sophie’s 28, and as far as I can tell, I’m done having kids.”

But Bobby didn’t shut the door entirely on finding love. “I’d definitely be open to having a life partner,” he said. “But I don’t think that necessarily needs to come with a piece of paper. You know, love can be beautiful without all the formalities.”
Bobby’s Divorce History: A Journey Through Love and Heartbreak
Bobby’s been through three marriages, each with its own story. His first marriage to Debra Ponzek ended in 1993 after just two years. Then came his second marriage to Kate Connelly, which lasted from 1995 to 1998. During this time, they welcomed their daughter, Sophie Flay, into the world in 1996. Bobby’s third marriage was to Stephanie March, and while it lasted a decade, it eventually ended in 2015.
When Kristin asked if there were any common threads running through his divorces, Bobby had this to say: “They were all completely different experiences. Here’s the thing—I’ve been single for 10 years now, and I’ve grown really comfortable in my own skin. There’s just less pressure when you’re not married. You don’t have that weight hanging over your head.”
“Once you sign that marriage certificate, something shifts,” Bobby explained. “It’s hard to explain to people who’ve never been married. They might say, ‘What’s the big deal?’ But there is a difference. It’s subtle, but it’s there.”
What About Christina Pérez?
Bobby’s last serious relationship was with Christina Pérez, which lasted for three years before they parted ways in June 2024. At the beginning of their romance, things seemed to be going well. “She’s such a wonderful person,” Bobby gushed to People in December 2021. “My life is so hectic, and she’s always the calm at the end of the day for me.”
Unfortunately, the couple decided to go their separate ways. When asked about being single again, Bobby told People, “I’m just taking it easy right now. Honestly, I don’t have much to say about it. It’s still pretty new for me, and I’m just looking forward to playing some golf this week.”

Instead of jumping back into the dating scene, Bobby decided to focus on his family. He took Sophie, now 28, to the Olympics for a special father-daughter outing. “Sophie practically claimed my ticket the second I got it,” Bobby joked. “She knows everyone there because she’s worked the Olympics twice. So I’ll probably just be tagging along with her.”
