It was a day like no other for Len Cariou, the beloved actor who portrayed Henry Reagan on Blue Bloods. As the final season wrapped up, Len found himself in an unusual setting—a funeral scene that marked the end of an era. The 85-year-old actor shared his bittersweet experience with TV Insider, giving fans a glimpse into what it felt like to say goodbye to the family he'd worked with for over a decade.
Final Scenes and Farewells
In a candid interview published on November 1, Len revealed the unique circumstances surrounding the last day of filming. “We weren’t even in the house when we wrapped,” Len explained. “The final scene took place at a funeral, and it was just Tom [Selleck], Bridget [Moynahan], Steve [Schirripa], and a few others. It was strange, almost like any other day, except this time, we knew it was the end.”
Len, who has been a part of the Reagan family since the show's debut in 2010, reflected on the emotional complexity of saying goodbye. “It wasn’t a big emotional goodbye in the moment, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t heavy. We knew this was it, and we had to move on. Still, we promised to stay in touch, which was important to all of us.”

Reuniting with the Cast
Thankfully, Len didn’t have to wait long to reconnect with his Blue Bloods family. A couple of weeks after the final filming day, the cast came together for press events surrounding the launch of the last eight episodes. “When we all got back in the same room, it was bittersweet,” Len admitted. “I had mentally prepared myself to say goodbye, but seeing everyone again made it harder. It was like closing a chapter but realizing the story wasn’t over yet.”
A Family Like No Other
Tom Selleck, who played Henry’s son, Frank Reagan, echoed Len’s sentiments. In an interview with TV Insider published on October 3, Tom spoke about the unique bond the cast shared. “The cast of Blue Bloods is as close as the Reagan family they portray,” he said. “There’s not a single person who didn’t want to come back for more seasons. Most shows don’t end this way—there’s jealousy, drama, and disagreements. But we overcame all that. It’s something we can all be proud of.”

Tom, a veteran of long-running shows, credited the success of Blue Bloods to the strong foundation laid early on. “I had a great experience on Magnum, P.I., and I brought some of that energy to Blue Bloods. As the patriarch of the Reagan family, I had some credibility with the younger cast members, which helped us navigate challenges together.”
The Legacy Continues
As fans eagerly await the final episodes of Blue Bloods, airing Fridays at 10 p.m. on CBS, they can’t help but wonder what’s next for the Reagan family. While the show may be ending, the bond between its cast will undoubtedly endure. For now, viewers will have to tune in to see how the story concludes.
