But hey, Mark didn’t let it bring him down. He told Ellen that Grace made the best of it by hanging out with him near the DJ booth. “She sat there on the edge of the stage by the DJ,” he shared, proving that even when things don’t go as planned, there’s always a silver lining.
However, things got a little wild when Mark realized what kind of music was playing. “I’m sitting there with one other dad, and I’m like, ‘This is not an edited version of this song. There are explicit lyrics being played at a school dance for girls. This is no good,’” Mark recounted. Can you imagine? A dad trying to enjoy a sweet moment with his daughter while the DJ is dropping F-bombs? Not exactly the vibe you’d expect at a father-daughter dance, right?

According to Mark, the key to good parenting is being involved in every aspect of your kids’ lives and leading by example. “It’s one thing to talk about it, but it’s another thing to do it,” he explained. “When my kids see me go to church every day, when they see me get on my hands and knees and pray, they [can see] and know how grateful I am and how appreciative I am.”
Mark also emphasized the importance of teaching his kids to be thoughtful and aware of others who may not have as much. “Plus, they know how thoughtful and aware we are of what other people don’t have,” he added. “Hopefully that will rub off on them.”
