Here’s something you may not know: TV star Maria Menounos has been navigating her journey to motherhood amidst the chaos of the coronavirus pandemic. The former Access Hollywood host recently opened up exclusively to Closer Weekly, revealing she’s ready to resume her surrogacy process with husband Keven Undergaro as soon as quarantine restrictions ease. “We’re hoping once all of this is over,” the 41-year-old told the publication, sharing her optimism about the future.
Pausing Motherhood Plans During a Global Pandemic
Life as we know it has been turned upside down since the pandemic began, and Maria’s story is no exception. Like millions of people around the world, she and Keven had to hit the pause button on their plans to grow their family. But instead of letting the uncertainty overwhelm them, they’re focusing on what they can control—staying positive and preparing for the day when they can restart their surrogacy journey.
Life in Quarantine: Keeping Busy and Bonding
For Maria and Keven, quarantine hasn’t been all that different from their usual routine. “It’s actually the same for us,” Maria explained. “We’re used to always being together. We’ve always worked together, so yeah. I haven’t really noticed a difference, other than he’s working so much harder on AfterBuzz… so I’m barely getting to see him.”

Even though Keven’s been super busy, the couple has found creative ways to bond during these challenging times. Date nights at home have become a cherished tradition, complete with binge-watching their favorite shows like Ozark, Better Call Saul, and The Last Dance. “Having a network devoted to aftershows is great because that’s one of our passions,” Maria shared. “And of course, 90 Day Fiancé is our absolute favorite.”
Looking Back on Her Journey to Motherhood
Last year, Maria gave fans a peek into her dreams of starting a family. Partnering with Purina ahead of the 2020 Beverly Hills Dog Show, she spoke candidly about her surrogacy plans and how many children she hopes to have. “We kind of want to do the twin thing and get it over with,” she joked, “but everyone’s against that because it’s really difficult for both to take.”
Despite the challenges, Maria remains committed to her ultimate goal: becoming a mom. “That’s the thing—[not] that many,” she told Closer. “Although you see so many people end up with triplets and more, so we’ll see.”
