Eve Cooper Talks About Her Journey As A Stepmom And Her Decision To Focus On Family

Eve Admits Taking 'Years to Adjust' to Being Stepmom to 4 Kids

When rapper-turned-actress Eve tied the knot with Maximillion Cooper back in June 2014, she didn’t just gain a husband—she gained a whole family. Eve quickly embraced her role as a stepmom to Maximillion’s four children, affectionately referring to them as her "bonus children." While the transition wasn’t always smooth, Eve now feels incredibly fortunate to have these kids in her life, and she’s determined to make their bond even stronger.

Building a Family: A Journey of Love and Growth

Reflecting on her journey as a stepmom, Eve, now 42, opened up in a recent interview with People magazine. She shared how she’s been a part of her stepchildren’s lives for over a decade now. "It’s been 10 and a half years that I’ve had the privilege of being in their lives, and they’ve been such an incredible grounding force for me," she gushed. Eve went on to explain how her stepkids, Jagger, Lotus, Mini, and Cash—whom Maximillion shares with his ex-wife Julie Brangstrup—have helped her grow as a person. "They’ve really anchored me in ways I never thought possible," she added with a smile.

The Early Days: Navigating the Path to Step-Motherhood

While Eve may seem like a natural at being a stepmom now, she admits it wasn’t always so straightforward. In the early days of her relationship with Maximillion, she questioned whether she could handle the responsibility of raising four kids. "When I first met Maximillion, I was like, ‘This is never going to work. Four kids? How is this even possible?’" she recalled with a laugh. But once she met Jagger, Lotus, Mini, and Cash, her perspective shifted entirely. "I was blown away by how amazing kids could be. They changed my whole outlook," she confessed.

  • That said, the transition wasn’t without its challenges. "Let’s be honest—it took a couple of years to really adjust and find our rhythm with the kids," Eve admitted candidly. "But looking back, I feel incredibly lucky. I truly believe that my stepchildren are one of the greatest blessings in my life. I call them my bonus kids, and they’ve enriched my life in ways I couldn’t have imagined."

Choosing Family: Eve Steps Down from The Talk

Eve’s commitment to her family became even clearer when she announced her decision to step down from The Talk in November after four seasons. Living overseas during the pandemic made it difficult for her to balance her hosting duties with her family life. "It’s been such a crazy year for all of us," she explained during her final appearance on the show. "I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to stay in London and continue working, but I can’t see myself traveling back and forth anytime soon. So, at the end of December, this will likely be my last time as a host."
