Back in the day, Jack Nicholson was the life of every Hollywood party, but these days, he's all about keeping things close to home. The legendary actor recently hosted a cozy holiday dinner at his Los Angeles residence, inviting only a select few. "It’s pretty intimate—just me, my uncle Ray, my aunt Lorraine, and my mom," Duke Nicholson, Jack's 20-year-old grandson, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter back in December 2019. Duke, whose mom is Jack’s daughter Jennifer, 56, added that even though Jack doesn’t hit the town as much as he used to, "he’s doing fantastic. He’s fully himself."

Life After Hollywood: Jack Nicholson's Retirement

At 82, Jack hasn't graced the big screen since 2010's How Do You Know. And you know what? He’s loving every minute of it. “Many people don’t really grasp the value of leisure and how important it is in our lives,” Jack once said. For him, retirement has been about soaking up the simple pleasures. He's a die-hard Lakers fan, never misses a game, and stays up-to-date with current events. "He’s always had this insatiable curiosity," an insider exclusively told Closer Weekly. "He reads like crazy and is deeply engaged with both history and the present day." Whether it’s catching a game or diving into a new book, Jack is making the most of his time off-screen.

Art and Family: Jack's True Passions

One of Jack’s greatest joys these days is sharing his impressive art collection with his loved ones. "He’s always eager to share the stories behind the paintings he’s collected over the years," a close friend told Closer Weekly. "His kids and grandkids love listening to his tales and soaking in the wisdom he shares with them." Whether it's discussing the history of a piece or reflecting on life’s lessons, Jack’s art is more than just decoration—it’s a conversation starter and a way to connect with his family on a deeper level.

In his later years, Jack has made a conscious effort to strengthen his family ties. "He feels a sense of responsibility, especially toward Jennifer," the friend continued. Jack carries a bit of guilt for not being as present as he wished he could have been during Jennifer’s childhood. But now, he makes up for it by doting on her two sons, Duke and Sean. Duke, by the way, followed in his grandfather’s footsteps and made his acting debut in last year’s horror blockbuster Us. It’s moments like these that make Jack beam with pride.

Love and Longing: The Heart of a Legend

Despite his countless romances, Jack admits he hasn’t found the lasting love he longs for. "I’ve had everything a man could dream of, but I can’t say I’ve been successful in matters of the heart," Jack confessed to the DailyMail in 2011. His only marriage was to actress Sandra Knight, Jennifer’s mother, from 1962 to 1968. Since then, he’s had meaningful relationships with Anjelica Huston, Rebecca Broussard, and Lara Flynn Boyle, but none have led to a permanent partnership. "I’d love to experience that one last real romance," Jack admitted. "But I’m not overly optimistic about it happening. Still, the yearning is there, and that’s something I can’t deny."
