A Night to Remember, But Not in the Way They Expected
Let me tell you about that evening in January after the Golden Globe Awards. Lisa Marie Presley suggested to her mom, Priscilla Presley, that they head to the iconic Chateau Marmont for a nightcap. Priscilla recalled the moment vividly: “She didn’t look well that night. We both stumbled in our high heels and laughed about it as we entered the hotel. It was one of those nights where you know things aren’t quite right, but you try to make the best of it.” Once inside, they sat down, and Lisa Marie said, “Mom, I have to go, my stomach really hurts.” Little did Priscilla know that this would be the last time she’d see her daughter.
The Unthinkable Loss That Shook a Family
Just two days later, the world was stunned by the news that Lisa Marie had passed away at the young age of 54 due to cardiac arrest triggered by a bowel obstruction. Priscilla spoke candidly to journalist Piers Morgan about the overwhelming pain of losing her daughter. “It was unbearable. It’s like a large part of your life is suddenly taken away,” she shared, her voice filled with emotion. “I never imagined life without her. It’s still so hard to wrap my head around the fact that she’s no longer here.”
Facing Loss After Loss: Priscilla's Journey Through Grief
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first devastating loss Priscilla has faced. In July 2020, Lisa Marie’s son, Benjamin, tragically took his own life at the age of 27. And just over a year later, Priscilla lost her own mother, Anna, at the age of 95. At 78 years old, Priscilla has had to navigate a whirlwind of emotions and challenges. “You just don’t know what life is going to throw at you,” she said, her words heavy with the weight of experience. “I lost my mother, my grandson, and now my daughter. It’s still so shocking and surreal. The grief never truly goes away, but you learn to carry it with you.”

A Legacy of Love and Legacy Planning
Amidst all the heartache, there has been some resolution regarding Lisa Marie’s will. Priscilla will now serve as a paid advisor to her granddaughter Riley Keough, 35, on matters related to Lisa Marie’s trust. “Riley and I have always been close,” Priscilla explained. “She’s such a strong and compassionate person, and I’m honored to be part of her journey.” Priscilla has also made arrangements to be buried at Graceland, near Lisa Marie and her late husband, Elvis Presley. “I miss Elvis so much. His words, his laugh, his energy—it’s all something I cherish deeply,” she said. “Life moves forward, but the memories and love we shared are timeless. Looking back at our pictures and albums, I realize how much joy we had. That’s something no one can take away.”
