But when the 13-year-old insisted on seeing her mom's latest raunchy flick, Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Salma couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy. Thankfully, her daughter’s reaction was nothing but positive.
Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers on June 21, Salma Hayek, now 54, shared how nervous and embarrassed she felt about her daughter seeing the action-comedy, which hit theaters on June 16. “She was quite impressed with that,” Salma revealed, echoing Valentina’s response after watching the movie. It’s clear the mother-daughter bond is strong, even when the subject matter is a little edgy.
Valentina's Reaction to Salma's Latest Role
Salma was upfront with Valentina about the film's content. “This is really raunchy, like really raunchy,” she told her daughter, referring to the vulgar script and sexual references throughout the movie. But Valentina wasn’t fazed. “Oh, I’m sure there’s nothing in there I haven’t heard or seen,” the teenager responded, brushing off her mom's concerns. It’s clear that Valentina has grown up in a world where nothing shocks her.

Mom's Warning: "I’m Going to Embarrass You"
Knowing what her daughter might encounter, Salma warned Valentina not to bring her friends. “I’m really going to embarrass you,” the Frida star told her daughter, but Valentina was undeterred. “You embarrass me all the time, every day, so what’s going to be different?” she replied with a laugh. Despite her reservations, Salma said Valentina ultimately saw the film. “She never wants to see my stuff, but she insisted on watching this one and going with her friends,” Salma shared, adding that she’s relieved because everyone loved it. “Mom, I understand it’s not you, it’s not you, it’s the character,” Valentina reassured her mom.

After sharing the hilarious story with Seth Meyers, Salma marveled at how much her daughter has grown. “She’s 13 going on 18,” Salma said with a chuckle, acknowledging how quickly time flies. Watching her daughter mature and form her own opinions about her work is something Salma treasures. Even though Valentina might not always want to watch her mom’s movies, she clearly has a deep respect for her mom’s talent and career.
