There’s nothing quite like hearing someone open up about love and commitment, and Jenna Bush Hager did just that during a touching segment on Today With Jenna & Friends. The former first daughter, now a beloved TV personality, gave fans an inside look at what makes her relationship with husband Henry Hager so special.
A Candid Conversation About Relationships
Jenna, now 43, was joined by guest cohost and country star Kelsea Ballerini for a heartfelt discussion about relationships. The two dove deep into what it takes to maintain a healthy, thriving partnership, touching on everything from communication to mutual support. The segment aired on Monday, January 27, and quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the show.
Kelsea, 31, who is currently dating Outer Banks star Chase Stokes, chimed in with her own perspective. “In my relationship, what I’ve learned the most is the way that you can mirror someone,” she said thoughtfully. “When you allow yourself to be fully yourself with your partner, it’s like a mirror system. You help each other grow and understand each other better.”

Jenna Praises Chase Stokes for Being “So Supportive”
Jenna couldn’t help but praise Chase for being such a supportive figure in Kelsea’s life. “Part of having a great relationship is choosing the right person,” Jenna said warmly. “They make you feel supported, but they also help you feel like you’re doing exactly what you’re meant to do. That’s when you can truly thrive.”
For Jenna, who has been married to Henry since 2008, this philosophy rings especially true. Together, they’ve built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. They’re proud parents to three children: Mila, Poppy, and Hal. “We always say, I want to make him feel like a superhero, and vice versa,” Kelsea added, capturing the essence of what it means to uplift your partner.
Emotional Moment Leaves Everyone Speechless
As the conversation unfolded, Jenna paused and looked around the room. “OK, everybody is crying,” she joked, acknowledging the emotional weight of the discussion. It was clear that the heartfelt exchange had resonated with everyone present, including the audience watching from home.
This particular episode of Today’s fourth hour featured a rotating cast of celebrity cohosts following Hoda Kotb’s departure from the show. In recent weeks, Jenna has been joined by an impressive lineup of guests, including Eva Longoria, Keke Palmer, Taraji P. Henson, Scarlett Johansson, and more. Each cohost brings their unique perspective to the table, making for engaging and memorable episodes.

On the same day, Jenna shared a stunning montage of romantic photos from a recent vacation with Henry on Instagram. The images showcased the couple enjoying some much-needed time together in paradise, dressed in their best vacation outfits. “Cold day in NYC… dreaming about the Cayman cookout!” Jenna captioned the series of photos.
Fans were quick to respond, with one commenter writing, “Magical moments in paradise!” while another added, “Such great memories. I could use a sunny vacation right about now.”

Just a few months earlier, in May 2024, Jenna celebrated Henry’s birthday with another photo dump on Instagram. “Happiest birthday to the best who never took to social media! Henry Hager we [heart emoji] you with all we are! Been together for 20 birthdays… (still feel 26!!)” she wrote alongside the series of pictures.
Jenna has often credited her marriage’s success to advice Henry received early on. “Somebody gave Henry really good advice,” she revealed during an October 2024 episode of Today. “Honestly, I know the reason why we’re married. There are many reasons, don’t get me wrong—Henry has so many great qualities—but one of them was that he knew how to play hard to get.”
When Hoda, 60, asked Jenna to elaborate on how exactly Henry played “hard to get,” Jenna explained, “Well, he wouldn’t call every day, but I always knew he was into me. I thought, this guy really knows how to play it cool.”
“I kept it tight too. I know the rules,” she added with a laugh. Ultimately, the strategy worked wonders for the couple, who tied the knot at Jenna’s family’s ranch in Crawford, Texas, in front of 200 guests more than a decade ago.
“He wasn’t pretending to be anyone but himself,” Jenna reflected fondly. “But he wouldn’t write or call every day because he was busy. Every once in a while, though, he’d pull out his Blackberry and send me a quick message like, ‘Miss you,’ or ‘Thinking of you.’ That was enough to keep me hooked.”
