TV personality Kelly Ripa recently shared the unique challenges of living with her children during an interview on "Radio Andy." It's not just about keeping the household running—it's about navigating the dynamics of family life in a whole new way. In this candid conversation, Kelly dives into what it's really like sharing a home with her kids and husband, Mark Consuelos, during these unprecedented times.
When Family Life Gets Real
During the April 16th episode of "Radio Andy," Kelly Ripa, 49, opened up about the daily antics that come with raising three teenagers: Michael Consuelos, 22, Lola Consuelos, 18, and Joaquin Consuelos, 17. "The only real challenge is surviving their endless teasing," Kelly laughed, sharing how her kids relentlessly poke fun at her and Mark. "From the moment I walk through the door after my show, it's nonstop. They critique every word I say, every move I make. No one is spared from their sharp wit!"

Grateful Hearts Despite the Teasing
Despite the playful jabs, Kelly admitted her kids are incredibly appreciative of everything she and Mark, also 49, provide. The "Live with Kelly and Ryan" host shared how quarantine has brought them closer together. "They know how lucky they are," she said. "They're filled with gratitude. Honestly, I think they’re thrilled not to have to do their own laundry or cook their own meals. Not that they’re great cooks, but they don’t have to rely on cafeteria food anymore. It’s given them a new appreciation for us."
The Impact of Social Awareness
Kelly also discussed how her children's awareness of the world around them has grown during this period. As they navigate social media and interact with friends online, they've become more observant of current events. When news broke that Andy Cohen had contracted coronavirus, it hit close to home for the family. "When Andy got sick, it really brought the reality of the situation to life for them," Kelly explained. "It wasn’t just some distant person somewhere else. It was someone they know, love, and consider a friend. For kids at their age, sometimes it has to hit close to home for them to fully grasp the gravity of things."
But through it all, Kelly praised her children for handling the situation with grace. "They’ve been amazing," she said with pride. "Even though they’re constantly giving me a hard time, I can see how much they care. They understand what’s going on, and they’re stepping up in their own ways."
Final Thoughts
As Kelly continues to juggle her career and family life, she remains grounded by the love and laughter shared with her loved ones. Hopefully, the next time she posts a sweet photo of her and Mark, her kids won’t roll their eyes quite so hard. After all, even the most embarrassing moments can create cherished memories.
