Hoda Kotb Takes a Leap Into a New Chapter
Well, folks, Hoda Kotb isn’t slowing down one bit after stepping away from Today! Just two months after her departure, she’s diving headfirst into a brand-new adventure. This isn’t just any project; it’s a deeply personal one that resonates with her journey. Let me tell you, this woman knows how to keep things exciting.
Hoda, now 60, made a special appearance via video during an episode of Today on Monday, March 10. Guess what she was there to announce? That’s right, her latest book, Jump and Find Joy: Embracing Change in Every Season of Life. Sounds like the kind of story that could inspire all of us to take a leap of our own, doesn’t it?
Facing the Leap of Faith
Here’s what Hoda had to say in the video: “Everybody in their life, at one point, stands on the edge of something and says, ‘Should I jump?’” She went on to share her own experience, saying, “And I felt that way about the Today show, and I was terrified to even think about jumping.” Can you imagine that? The woman who’s always been so poised and confident admitting to being scared? It just shows how relatable and human she is.

The Influence of a Trusted Friend
Hoda revealed that a heartfelt chat with her pal Maria Shriver played a huge role in her decision to leave the show. “She was like, ‘You’ve jumped your whole life,’” Hoda recounted. “‘You were in small markets in television [and] you jumped from city to city. You jumped into relationships and out of them. You jumped into motherhood. You have a history of jumping, so don’t tell me that you can’t jump.’” It’s like Maria handed her a pep talk wrapped in wisdom.
Hoda shared, “I was thinking of a book and the idea of jump kind of hit me. So, we started thinking about different people who I loved and respected and admired who have been afraid to do something and have done it, and I included some of them in the book.” It’s like she’s gathering a team of jumpers to inspire us all.
She explained further that she wanted to include stories from various famous faces who’ve faced their fears and come out stronger on the other side. “Viola Davis: This woman went from on her knees to this incredible spot, and it was an image that caused her to jump. Sarah Jakes, who’s also in the book, T.D. Jakes’ daughter, she’s a pastor and she said, ‘When you jump, you have to imagine yourself on the other side,’” Hoda said.

Hoda wrapped up her thoughts by saying, “Here’s my thing, you get one life. That’s all. That’s it. It’s ready for the taking. It only takes a jump.” It’s like she’s giving us all permission to take that leap we’ve been pondering.
What’s Next for Hoda?
Jump and Find Joy is set to hit the shelves on September 25 and is available for pre-sale today. According to a synopsis from Penguin Random House, this project is “an intimate book that reveals for the first time what Hoda discovered as she started embracing change in every aspect of her life.”
In her quest to understand change better, Hoda dives deep into how to work with it rather than against it. “Hoda relies on her reporting instincts to investigate HOW change works, WHO is approaching it with grace, and WHAT she can apply to her own life and share with others,” the summary explains.

“Jump and Find Joy combines the wisdom of change experts, insights from the latest work on resilience, and deeply personal stories from celebrities and inspirational people in our own communities. From small shifts in daily routines to major leaps of faith, Hoda shows why change isn’t to be feared but celebrated … and how each of us can thrive in the midst of changes we’ll inevitably face ourselves,” the book promises.
Hoda decided to leave Today after her 60th birthday to spend more quality time with her daughters, Haley, 8, and Hope, 5. Not only that, but she’s also planning to launch her own wellness company. Talk about keeping busy!
“I’m working on a whole bunch of different things, but I’m going to do, from 9-11, two hours, work there,” she told TODAY.com back in January about her new schedule. “Then, for the afternoon, for 11-12 — that period of time, that’s where I want to really take time because you get creative when you have space. When you’re sprinting from place to place, you lose all your creativity. So I want to be able to have room to take walks outside.”
