Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent first crossed paths in 2012, during a fun-filled day of antique shopping with their mutual friend Rachel Zoe. It was one of those moments where the stars align, and something magical happened. Jeremiah recalls sitting in a cozy brown leather chair, chatting with Nate, when he realized there was something extraordinary about this encounter.

"I remember thinking to myself, 'Oh God, what is this? This is not what I thought it was,'" Jeremiah shared during a heartfelt interview with People in February 2022. "There was something about him that, in his presence, I just felt so safe." That initial connection blossomed into a deep and lasting bond.

Less than a year after their first meeting, Nate popped the question while the two were enjoying a romantic getaway in Peru. In 2014, they tied the knot in a breathtaking ceremony held at the New York Public Library, becoming the first same-sex couple to marry at this iconic venue.

Still Going Strong: Nate and Jeremiah's Marriage Today

Nate and Jeremiah are still very much in love, celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary in May 2022. Their partnership extends beyond the personal, as they continue to collaborate professionally. In 2021, they took on the challenge of competing on the second season of "Rock the Block," where they designed a stunning, family-friendly home.

Even though they didn't win the competition, Jeremiah shared an important lesson they learned: "The best part I would say was we really pushed ourselves outside of our comfort zone." This experience only strengthened their bond and fueled their passion for creating beautiful spaces together. Their TV show, "The Nate & Jeremiah Home Project," premiered in October 2021, with the second season airing in February 2023.

The Joy of Parenthood: Nate and Jeremiah's Family

Nate and Jeremiah's family grew in March 2015 with the arrival of their daughter, Poppy, via surrogate. Their family expanded further in March 2018 when their son, Oskar, was born. Parenthood has brought them immense joy and fulfillment.

Nate spoke candidly about fatherhood in a June 2018 interview with House Beautiful: "I love the ceremony of waking them up in the morning, picking them up when they fall, and walking them through the complexities of their day." Jeremiah also cherishes being a dad, calling parenthood "a gift I never thought I'd be given." He adds, "I discovered I'm a lot more patient than I thought I'd be. It takes a lot to shake me."
