Mina went on to explain how this lake house represents more than just a renovation project—it’s a symbol of hope and new beginnings. “This is my new dream because all of my other dreams I’ve given up on, and I’m grieving them,” she confessed. For Mina, this lake house isn’t just a property; it’s a chance to reclaim joy and purpose in her life.
The Two-Phase Renovation Plan
Mina and Steve, who are proud parents to Jack and Charlotte, have decided to tackle the renovation in two distinct phases. In the first phase, they’re focusing on the main floor of the house, which includes the living room, dining room, kitchen, main bedroom, bathroom, and two additional bedrooms and a bathroom designated for the kids. The second phase will bring the renovation outdoors and below, with plans to revamp the backyard and basement.

“What I know right now is that in the first phase, we’re filming for a two-episode spinoff, and it’s been really fun so far,” Mina revealed. She added that Steve is deeply involved, and their kids are often on-site, making it a family affair. Plus, longtime collaborators MJ Coyle and Austin Aynes are lending their expertise for the demo work. “It just kind of feels like getting back to when I started, and it was just really fun and everything was joyful,” she said with a smile.
A New Chapter in Mina’s Career
While Mina hasn’t disclosed the exact air date for the spinoff, she’s eagerly anticipating the transformation and sharing it with her fans. “I have so many friends who tell these great stories about growing up at their grandparents’ lake houses—running around in the woods, building forts, just being kids,” Mina reflected. “I just want that for my kids.”
Despite some challenges in her family dynamics, Mina envisions this lake house as a gathering place for everyone. “It’s going to be for my family, but also for my extended family to make these new, amazing memories,” she emphasized. Financial constraints are the reason they’ve opted for a two-phase approach to the renovation. “I don’t have enough money to do the whole thing at once,” Mina admitted candidly. “Despite what a lot of people think, I’m not rich.”

Back in August, Mina announced the end of Good Bones, a show that brought her so much success. But this new spinoff is an opportunity for her to showcase her talents in a fresh way. “I’m excited for you guys to see that,” Mina said enthusiastically. “I hope you really like it. It’s a super cool property. It’s very midcentury modern, which isn’t my style. So, doing the design, I’m trying to respect that while still kind of giving it my own spin.”
