A Journey Back to the Screen
The last time Meg graced our screens was eight years ago in 2015’s Ithaca, a drama film where she also took on the role of director. If we rewind even further, her most recent rom-com appearance was in Serious Moonlight with Kristen Bell and Timothy Hutton, a full 14 years ago. Meg's absence from the screen wasn't due to lack of talent—it was more about finding herself.
The Golden Globe nominee decided to take a hiatus from acting to explore other interests. During a Goop wellness summit in 2018, Meg revealed, “I didn’t really aim to be an actor. I was a journalism major at school and a curious person, and I wanted to go back out into the world and figure out who I was — am — in relation to other things and other people and other environments.”
In a candid interview, Meg opened up about why she stepped away from Hollywood. “I didn’t feel like I knew enough anymore about myself or the world to reflect it as an actor. I felt isolated,” the Rich and Famous alum confided to The New York Times Magazine in February 2019. She likened it to being in a car so expensive that the interior is luxurious, but you can't hear anything outside because there's too much metal separating you from the world. “There’s so much between you and everything else,” she said.

Meg admitted that being a “young, famous person” comes with its own set of disadvantages, particularly when it comes to trust. “You don’t know who’s telling you the truth,” she explained.
