Back in February 2021, Meghan and Harry made the sweetest announcement—they were expecting their second child together. The couple couldn’t hide their excitement as they prepared to expand their family.

A spokesperson for the couple shared the joyous news, saying, “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

Fast forward to June 4, 2021, and the world welcomed Lilibet into the world. The couple affectionately calls her "Lili," a name that perfectly suits their little bundle of joy.

“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe,” the couple wrote on their Archewell website at the time. “Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

In November 2022, Meghan revealed another exciting milestone in Lili’s life. During an episode of her “Archetypes” podcast, she shared, “Lili has just started walking. She’s a year and a couple of months old.” It's moments like these that remind us how quickly time flies with kids!

Big Brother Archie: Lilibet’s Best Friend

Lilibet has the best playmate ever in her older brother, Archie. Born on May 6, 2019, Archie came into the world just one year after Meghan and Harry’s fairytale wedding at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. The two siblings are the heart of their family, and Meghan couldn’t be happier with her little crew.

Since stepping back from royal life in January 2020, the former Suits actress has found pure joy in her family life. She often shares glimpses into their daily routine, which is filled with love, laughter, and a touch of chaos.

“I’m sure it’ll only get more chaotic as they get older,” Meghan says with a smile. “But for me, it’s both monitors on for the kids to hear them, always up with Lili, get her downstairs, then a half hour later, Archie’s up. I start doing his lunchbox right before he’s up while I have her, getting her a little nibble. My husband’s helping me get him downstairs.”

“I make breakfast for all three of them. It’s very important to me. I love doing it,” Meghan adds. “To me, it just feels like the greatest way to start the morning.”

While Harry and Meghan cherish their family life, they’ve decided that two children are enough for them. Harry shared, “To have a boy, then a girl — what more can you ask for? Two is it.”

A Name With Meaning: Lilibet’s Royal Inspiration

Upon Lilibet’s birth, the couple revealed the thoughtful inspiration behind her name. “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet,” they said in a statement. “Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”

After the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, it was announced that Archie and Lilibet could officially use the titles of prince and princess under the reign of their grandfather, King Charles III.

“The children’s titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became monarch,”
