    Looking Forward with Optimism

Sheryl Underwood expressed her gratitude for the journey and the impact The Talk has had on its audience. “I think God is opening a door for us, and we’re proud to be part of The Talk history and CBS history and Paramount history,” she said. “And you just got to really wait and see what we’re gonna do before we go.” It’s a reminder that even as one chapter closes, another exciting one could be just around the corner.

CBS announced on April 12 that the upcoming season 15 of The Talk would be its last. In a joint statement, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios President David Stapf expressed their appreciation for the show’s contributions: “For the final season, we plan to celebrate the show and give it the proper send-off it deserves when it concludes in December 2024.”

Over the years, The Talk has been a cornerstone of CBS’ daytime lineup, bringing timely, important, and entertaining discussions into living rooms worldwide. Hosting and producing a year-round talk show is no easy feat, and the network expressed its gratitude to the hosts, including Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell, and Sheryl Underwood, as well as the dedicated producing team and crew.

    Legacy and Reflection

Even after the cancellation news, Amanda Kloots remained positive. “Love this job, the people, the crew, the audience,” she wrote on The Talk’s Instagram page. Cohost Jerry O’Connell also wanted to end on a high note, commenting, “Fun times! Let’s have a great season!”

Since its premiere in 2010, The Talk has featured a rotating panel of hosts, including Julie Chen Moonves, Sharon Osbourne, Leah Remini, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Marie Osmond. The show’s influence and legacy will undoubtedly continue to resonate with fans long after its final episode airs.

  • Before the cancellation, there were concerns among the panelists about job security, as CBS planned to make room for its first Black soap opera in over three decades, called The Gates. The departure of outspoken Sharon Osbourne and original cohost Julie Chen Moonves, amidst various controversies, contributed to the show’s eventual downfall. “Things changed. The network no longer prioritized it. The advertising budget was reduced as ratings declined,” a source revealed.

Just three days after announcing The Talk’s cancellation, CBS revealed that The Gates had been greenlit for a January 2025 premiere, signaling a new era for the network.
