Let me tell you something special about Mika Brzezinski. The Morning Joe co-host recently gave her fans a peek into her dream garden, and it’s nothing short of breathtaking. In a recent Instagram post, Mika, 57, shared stunning photos of her home’s exterior, showcasing her passion for gardening and creativity. It’s like stepping into a serene paradise, and her followers are absolutely loving it.
Mika’s Garden: A Place Where Beauty and Recycling Meet
Mika has this incredible way of blending creativity with sustainability, and her garden is proof of that. She recently shared a photo of her floral display, which is housed inside a recycled bathtub. It’s not just about planting flowers; it’s about making a statement. The idea of using recycled items to create something beautiful speaks volumes about her commitment to the environment and her unique sense of style. Her garden isn’t just a space for plants—it’s a canvas for art and a place to connect with nature.
Recycling Steel Tubs: Mika’s Instagram Caption
In her Instagram caption, Mika wrote, “Recycling — steel tubs. Summer is over and I miss it!! #family #daughters #steeltubs #iceplungetherapy #flowers.” Her words are filled with nostalgia, reminding us of the fleeting nature of seasons and the importance of cherishing every moment. A Journey Through Mika’s DIY Projects
For those who’ve been following Mika’s journey, this isn’t her first DIY project. Last month, she shared a video of herself painting a bathtub, intending to use it for ice plunges on her porch. It wasn’t all smooth sailing, though. She mentioned in her caption how she accidentally broke a leg while sliding the tub across the porch, hurting her back in the process. But that didn’t stop her from seeing the humor in the situation. “THUS THE NEED FOR ICE!!” she joked.
Mika’s Ice Plunge Adventure
In her August 14 post, Mika shared her thoughts on the benefits of ice plunges. “My ice plunge — it was a fun project except for the part where I was sliding the steel tub across the porch and the leg broke off and I went flying across the porch and I hurt my back a little,” she wrote. But even with the mishap, she found value in the experience. “Seriously — three minutes a day is helpful in a big way whether it’s emotion regulation or just wanting to feel good!!! #tryIt #iceplunge #benefitsofice #wellness.” Her enthusiasm is contagious, and it’s clear that she’s passionate about wellness and self-care.

Fast forward to today, and Mika’s vision for her garden has truly come to life. A new bathtub sits proudly on her porch, serving as a testament to her hard work and dedication. Mika, who tied the knot with Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough in 2018, often uses her Instagram Stories to share glimpses of her home. Recently, she showed off some of the plants she’s growing, including a sign on her fence that reads “Bamba’s Garden.”
A Legacy of Love: Honoring Mika’s Mother
“Bamba” was the nickname of Mika’s late mother, Emilie Brzezinski, a renowned sculptor. Each summer, Mika spends time in Maine with her family, continuing the tradition started by her parents. After they passed, Mika inherited their vacation home, which has become a sanctuary for her and her loved ones. In September 2021, Mika reflected on the three weeks she spent with her mother at the home after Emilie was diagnosed with dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
“If she didn’t feel well, we would lay in front of the fireplace all day because sometimes it was all she could handle,” Mika wrote in a personal essay for MSNBC. “One day, we walked out to the garden, and she started to have a hard time breathing and had to sit down on an old bathtub that I turned into a flower holder. We rested for a bit and tried to walk back to the house, but she couldn’t go on. So, I grabbed a chair and sunhat from the porch, and that’s where we just sat and relaxed for two hours. We decided to just be.”
Mika’s Tribute to Her Mother
Emilie passed away in July 2022 at the age of 90, but her legacy lives on through Mika and her family. Mika, along with her daughters Carlie and Emilie Hoffer from her previous marriage to Jim Hoffer, continues to make cherished memories in Maine. After Emilie’s passing, Mika shared her thoughts on Morning Joe. “She spent decades working on her art … she taught us the tangible feeling of fulfillment that comes from building something with your hands,” she remembered. It’s clear that Emilie’s influence is woven into every aspect of Mika’s life, especially her garden.
