Sheinelle Jones isn’t just a household name for her work on Today; she’s also a supermom juggling a thriving career with raising three amazing kids. As an NBC correspondent, Sheinelle shares her life with her husband, Uche Ojeh, and their children—Kayin, and the twins Uche and Clara. It’s a balancing act that many parents can relate to, and she does it with grace and humor.
Since joining the network in 2014, Sheinelle has been a beacon of professionalism and warmth. But behind the scenes, she’s also navigating the challenges of motherhood while maintaining her high-profile career. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Sheinelle became a mom for the first time in August 2009 when Kayin was born. The twins, Uche and Clara, followed in July 2012, adding even more joy (and chaos) to her life.
Like many of her Today co-stars, Sheinelle often shares the ups and downs of parenting while working in the public eye. In a candid interview with Mommy Nearest in May 2015, she opened up about how she manages her demanding schedule. "I try to only travel once a week for work, and what I’ve learned is that instead of fretting about not being there one night a week, I use that time for my ‘mommy time’—my ‘me time,’ because let's be real, I don’t get much of it!" she explained. "There has to be some time where you take care of yourself. On those flights, I close my eyes or watch a movie, and I try to find the gift in that. A full night’s sleep makes me a better mom when I come home."

Her kids, each with their own unique personalities, are often showcased on Instagram and during segments of Today. Whether it’s sharing relatable moments about mealtime struggles or celebrating milestones, Sheinelle isn’t shy about showing the world the joys and challenges of raising three lively children. For example, she once joked to People about the quirks of feeding her family: "Let’s say we’re making pasta. My 7-year-old has suddenly decided he doesn’t like meat anymore—he's a vegetarian unless it's bacon. Meanwhile, my 4-year-old son doesn’t want pasta sauce, so he likes butter with noodles." Despite these hurdles, cooking remains one of the ways Sheinelle connects with her kids.
As her children grow older, Sheinelle notices they’ve inherited some of the traits that helped her succeed in her career. "I remember my mom telling me to stop talking so much. Now, with three kids of my own, guess what—they’re all just like me!" she told Parents in January 2021. "The good news is, maybe they can turn it into a career like their mom did."
Meet Kayin Ojeh: The Eldest Son

Kayin, Sheinelle and Uche’s eldest son, is growing up fast, and his mom couldn’t be prouder. In August 2022, Sheinelle celebrated Kayin's birthday on Instagram, reflecting on the impact he’s had on her life. "13 years ago today, this little guy changed my world and opened my heart in ways I didn’t even know was possible," she wrote. "We had a small apartment in Philly when he was born. I placed his crib right across from our bed, and I remember just staring into those innocent, beautiful brown eyes." It’s clear that Kayin holds a special place in his mom’s heart.
That same month, Kayin attended summer camp, where he indulged in his love for swimming and spending time at the beach. Whether it’s hanging out with his parents or bonding with his younger siblings, Kayin enjoys every moment. Sheinelle often shares sweet posts about her firstborn, reminding everyone that even though he’s the oldest, he’s still her "first baby." In a July 2021 selfie with Kayin, she captioned the photo: "He may be the oldest, but he’s still my first baby." And who could forget when Sheinelle brought Kayin as her date to the White House holiday press party in December 2024? She captioned the photos, "With each passing day, I am so thankful for moments like this. How handsome is my date? Thank you @whitehouse—for a magical night. To be here with my oldest son and work friends—who are more like family at this point—it was a night I hope he will cherish forever."
Of course, life isn’t always picture-perfect. In January 2025, Sheinelle took a break from the show to address a family health matter. She expressed her gratitude to her fans and colleagues for their support during this time. "I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show," she wrote on Instagram. "I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter. It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have the support of my Today show family, but also all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon. Love, Sheinelle."
