Hey there, friends! You know how sometimes life gets so hectic that you accidentally do something you can't take back? That's exactly what happened to Jenna Bush Hager over the holidays. She recently admitted to tossing out a Christmas gift from her dear friend and cohost, Hoda Kotb. Can you believe it? This confession came during a fun game of “We Listen and We Don’t Judge” on the Tuesday, January 7, episode of Today With Hoda and Jenna.
Hoda and Jenna’s Playful Exchange
It seems like these two have a lot to share as they get ready to say goodbye. Hoda, who is 60, went first in the game, teasing Jenna, who is 43, about borrowing her pink blazer a long time ago. With a playful smile, Hoda claimed, "I borrowed your pink blazer a long time ago and now I own it. It's mine." Jenna, clearly surprised, responded with a laugh, "I was wondering what happened to that item!"
But the fun didn’t stop there. Jenna took her turn and delivered a confession that sent both ladies into fits of laughter. "You gave me a beautiful Christmas present this year, and I think it somehow got thrown out," Jenna admitted sheepishly. Hoda couldn’t contain herself and burst into laughter. Jenna continued, "I can't find it anywhere. I’ve been searching high and low, but it's like it vanished into thin air!"

Hoda's Upcoming Departure
This heartfelt exchange didn’t go unnoticed by fans. Many of them expressed their sentiments on social media. One fan commented, "I’m gonna miss their banter and love. It is so evident how much they mean to each other." Another fan chimed in, "Darn, I’m going to miss these two ladies working together!! They’re SO funny and unique!! I LOVE THEM!!" Indeed, the duo has become a beloved part of morning television.
As the clock ticks down to Hoda’s last day on Today—set for Friday, January 10—fans are left wondering what the future holds. Hoda announced her decision to leave the show back on September 26, 2024. She joined the show's fourth hour in 2007 and later became cohost alongside Savannah Guthrie in January 2018. In her heartfelt farewell message, she explained, "I realized that it was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new. Standing outside looking at these beautiful bunch of people with gorgeous signs, I thought, 'This is what the top of the wave feels like for me.' And I thought it can't get better, and I decided that this is the right time for me to kind of move on."
What About Hoda's Gift?
Curious fans are left wondering, "What was the gift?" While we may never know the exact details, what's clear is the deep bond between Hoda and Jenna. Hoda also mentioned how her decision to leave was influenced by her desire to spend more time with her daughters, Haley and Hope, whom she adopted in 2017 and 2019, respectively. She said, "Obviously I had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking that they deserve a bigger piece of my time pie that I have. I feel like we only have a finite amount of time."

Jenna, naturally, wasn’t about to let Hoda leave without a fight. After Hoda’s announcement, Jenna joked, "It’s not over. I’m going to be showing up at your house like the stalker you are to Zac Brown. I will be there on your doorstep, and we are your friends forever." It seems like the bond between these two is unbreakable.
The Future of Today
With Hoda’s departure, Today is transitioning into a new era. The show has been renamed Today With Jenna & Friends!, featuring various celebrities rotating into the cohost chair alongside Jenna. On Monday, January 6, Jenna announced her first set of guest cohosts: Taraji P. Henson, Eva Longoria, and Keke Palmer. "It’s going to be our month of wonder women," Jenna said, revealing that these guest cohosts will join her for episodes during the week of January 13. "We love these women, we’ve said we love these women. I feel like Hoda helped me manifest this. Nobody will ever fill this chair, but the three of them sure can try."
