A Lifelong Love for Patsy Cline's Music

Beverly D’Angelo’s connection to Patsy Cline runs deep, stretching back to her early days as a singer. Long before she became known as an actress, D’Angelo was performing with legendary rockabilly musician Ronnie Hawkins in Canada. It was during this time that she first discovered Cline’s music.

“Ronnie told me, ‘You’ve got to check out Patsy Cline’s songbook,’” she recalled. “And I did. Her songs spoke to me in a way that few others did. By the time I was cast as Patsy in Coal Miner’s Daughter, I’d been singing her songs for years. It wasn’t just about imitating her voice—it was about capturing the essence of who she was as an artist. That’s what made the experience so special for me.”
