Hey there, friends. You know, life can throw us some unexpected curves, and sometimes those curves are tough to navigate. Recently, The View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin shared her deeply personal IVF journey with her husband, Justin Griffin. It’s a story of hope, perseverance, and the challenges many couples face when trying to start a family.
Let me paint you a clearer picture. During an episode of The View’s “Behind the Table” podcast, Alyssa opened up about her struggles with infertility. She and Justin have been trying to conceive for about a year and a half. “It wasn’t happening naturally,” Alyssa explained, so they made the decision to move forward with IVF. This is her second cycle, and she was about to head to the doctor’s office for another round of treatments. “Tomorrow, I’ll be in the doctor’s office dealing with that,” she said, her voice filled with both determination and vulnerability.
Why Alyssa Decided to Share Her Journey
Now, you might be wondering why Alyssa chose to share such a personal part of her life with the world. Well, she had a couple of reasons, and they’re pretty powerful. “I had no idea at my age how hard this actually would be,” Alyssa admitted. At just 35 years old, she thought she had plenty of time to start a family. “I was like, I’ve got plenty of time, this won’t be that difficult. I’m healthy, I work out, I eat right. But my body was just not cooperating,” she shared. It’s a reality check for many women out there who might be underestimating the challenges of conceiving.

Hope in the Midst of Struggles
Alyssa wants to give hope to others who might be going through the same thing. “There is a light at the end of the tunnel,” she reassured her audience. While she doesn’t know exactly when that light will shine for her and Justin, she’s amazed by what science can do. “I don’t know when that will be for us, but it’s incredible what science can do,” the political strategist said. It’s a message of hope and resilience that resonates deeply with anyone who’s been through the IVF process.
And let’s not forget the support system Alyssa has around her. Her View co-stars have been incredibly supportive throughout her journey. “Sara Haines has been just beyond supportive and helpful in this process, and Sunny [Hostin] has, too. She’s had her own journey with this!” Alyssa explained. It’s heartwarming to see the camaraderie and support among the ladies of The View.

Alyssa revealed that even on busy nights like election night, she was juggling her IVF treatments. “I gave myself IVF injections at midnight at CNN on election night and working until four in the morning,” she said. Despite the challenges, Alyssa managed to stay strong during her first cycle. “I didn’t cry, I didn’t have meltdowns, I didn’t feel hormonal swings,” she shared. But the second cycle proved to be much tougher. “I’ve been a wreck,” she admitted. “I’ve not felt myself, I’ve been tired, I’ve been emotional, you feel uncomfortable in your body.”
Sharing Her Story to Help Others
Alyssa wanted to share her story because she feels that often, we only hear the success stories after the fact. “From someone who was surprised by how hard it was, it’s because all the stories of this that we hear is usually women on the other side, like, ‘Here’s my baby and, oh, real quick, it was kind of hard to get here,’” she explained. She wanted to remind women who are struggling that there is hope and that you just have to be present in the process. “And I wanted to just share with women who are struggling that there is hope, and you just have to kind of be present in the process as you’re in it,” Alyssa said.
Alyssa and Justin have been married since 2021. During a September 2023 episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg jokingly asked Alyssa if she was pregnant. “No! Oh my god. No,” Alyssa quickly replied, putting her hands over her face. “You can’t say that when my mother-in-law is here who’s been dying for me to get pregnant!” Alyssa joked. Whoopi teased back, saying, “Yes! I just got a vibe.”
