Love stories don’t get much better than this! Sarah Michelle Gellar has been walking the path of love with her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., for two incredible decades. And guess what? The Buffy the Vampire Slayer star still remembers the very moment she fell madly in love with him. Now that’s something worth celebrating, right?

“Twenty years ago this week, my buddy @realfreddieprinze and I were supposed to have dinner with a mutual friend from out of town,” Sarah shared on Instagram, accompanied by a heartwarming then-and-now photo montage. “But you know how life goes—her flight got delayed. So, Freddie and I decided to meet up anyway and catch up. Little did we know, that night would change everything.”
Fast forward to today, and Sarah and Freddie are celebrating 20 years together, 17 of which have been spent as husband and wife. They’re also proud parents to two beautiful kids. “We still go to that same restaurant for dinner,” Sarah added, giving a playful shoutout to their no-show friend. “So, thanks for not showing up, @sloaney77. You accidentally set us up for life!”

Sarah and Freddie tied the knot in 2002, and since then, they’ve been nothing short of a power couple. Together, they’ve welcomed two adorable kids into their lives: daughter Charlotte, who’s now 10, and son Rocky, who’s 7. So, what’s the secret behind their rock-solid relationship? “Communication is everything,” Sarah revealed in an interview with Us Weekly. “It’s all about being present for each other. Listening is truly the most important thing.”
Freddie echoed her sentiments, adding, “We still make each other laugh every single day. And we treat each other with the utmost respect. That’s what keeps the spark alive.”

It’s just about being there for them.”
“I think conversations are incredibly important. I see so many families at restaurants these days, and as soon as they sit down, they hand out iPads and phones to their kids. I always think to myself, ‘This should be a special time.’ Growing up, going out to eat was such a treat for me. It was something special that adults did. I want to keep that magic alive for my family,” she continued.
