Let’s talk about what happens when you're stuck at home with your spouse for an extended period of time. For Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, the coronavirus pandemic has been a time of discovery—and maybe even some unexpected surprises. In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kevin opened up about how much he’s learned about his wife during quarantine, including her hidden talents and quirky habits. And yes, it involves pound cake.
Kevin Bacon Learns His Wife is a Vacuum Ninja
It turns out that Kyra Sedgwick isn’t just a talented actress; she’s also a cleaning queen. During his chat with Jimmy Kimmel, Kevin, 61, couldn’t stop laughing as he revealed Kyra’s newfound vacuuming skills. “She’s got vacuum skills I never knew existed,” Kevin joked. But wait, there’s more! It’s not just about cleanliness. Kyra has also taken up baking, and she’s making massive pound cakes almost every other day. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard her say the words ‘pound cake’ in her entire life,” Kevin said, “and now, boom, there’s a pound cake coming out of the oven every two or three days. Who knew?”

Quarantine Life: The New ‘Corona Rules’
Kyra, 54, playfully chimed in during the virtual interview, agreeing with Kevin’s assessment of her newly discovered domestic skills. “It’s the breakfast of champions every morning,” she said, referring to her culinary creations. But that’s not all. The couple, who have been married since 1988 and are parents to two grown children, Travis, 30, and Sosie, 28, have also adopted what they call “corona rules.” These rules include things like making the bed and, yes, even putting on pants. Kyra explained, “Not only does it just make me feel better about myself, but my self-esteem skyrockets when I make the bed. You never know what might happen in that bed during the day!”

When Life Throws You a Curveball… Like Poop in the Bed
Of course, no quarantine story would be complete without a little drama. Kyra shared a hilarious tale about something unexpected that happened one morning. “Today, Kevin woke up an hour and a half before me. He had some coffee, I came out, we had coffee, we took the dog for a walk, we came back, and then we went to make the bed,” she recounted. But when they pulled back the sheets, they found something shocking: poop. “The first thing Kevin said was, ‘Hunny, you sure it didn’t leak out of you? Last night was Cinco de Mayo,’” Kyra joked. As it turns out, the culprit was a roof rat, and now the couple is waiting for an exterminator to clean up the mess. “This is why we will never forget to make that bed for the rest of our lives,” Kyra quipped.
Through it all, Kevin and Kyra have managed to keep their sense of humor intact, proving that even in the face of unexpected challenges, laughter can go a long way. And hey, who knew that quarantine could teach you so much about your partner? Maybe we should all try baking a pound cake—or at least making the bed!
