Wow, this is some real-life drama right here! Whoopi Goldberg was in for a delightful shock when the legendary actor Patrick Stewart extended a formal invite she’ll never forget: a chance to re-enter the iconic Star Trek universe. Can you imagine how that felt?
A Star Trek Reunion in the Making
During the Wednesday, January 22, episode of The View, Patrick Stewart, the 79-year-old star of Star Trek: Picard, took the opportunity to ask the Oscar-winning actress if she’d be interested in dusting off her acting chops and rejoining the iconic series. “I’m here with a formal invitation, and it’s for you, Whoopi,” Patrick announced. He continued, “Alex Kurtzman, who is the senior executive producer of ‘Star Trek: Picard,’ and all his colleagues, of which I am one, want to invite you into the second season.”
Can you picture the energy in the room? The audience erupted into applause, celebrating the idea of Whoopi Goldberg returning to the role that fans have loved for years. Whoopi, known for her role as the El-Aurian bar hostess Guinan in Star Trek: The Next Generation back in 1988, was visibly thrilled. She gushed, “I’ve said this on the show before, but ‘Star Trek’ was one of the great experiences, from the beginning to the end. I had the best, best, best time ever.”

Revisiting the Past with Familiar Faces
Patrick Stewart added that it was truly wonderful working with Whoopi on the original series, and he can’t wait to have her back with the team. As for whether Whoopi would need to change her hairstyle to reprise her role, Patrick had a clever answer. “She doesn’t have to do anything,” Patrick told Whoopi’s cohosts on The View. “She’s Guinan, and who knows what Guinan’s history really is. That could be one of the excitements down the road!”
