Morgan Fairchild, the legendary star of Flamingo Road, spoke fondly of her encounters with Douglas at charity events. “I never had the chance to work with him directly, but whenever our paths crossed around town, especially at charity functions, he was nothing short of remarkable,” the 70-year-old actress shared during the Hollywood Beauty Awards in early February. “He was such a warm, kind, and generous man. When Morgan Fairchild reflects on her interactions with Douglas, one memory stands out above the rest. It was during the '80s, when Rogers & Cowan was introducing the legendary Julio Iglesias to the American audience. “My mom, Martha Jane McClenny, was visiting from Texas, and I was planning to attend a party,” she recalled. “She was supposed to head back home, but then she begged me to let her stay because Kirk was hosting a party.”

“She told me, ‘You can’t make me leave unless I get to meet Kirk Douglas,’” Morgan continued with a chuckle. “So, we stayed, and when she finally met him, Kirk was incredibly gracious and welcoming. It’s a moment I’ll never forget, and it truly showcased the kind of man he was.”
Legacy Beyond the Screen
Morgan emphasized that Douglas will always be remembered not just for his iconic roles in films but also for his significant contributions to Hollywood. “Kirk should be remembered for his legendary performances, his work as a producer, and most importantly, for breaking the Hollywood blacklist,” she said. “In today’s world, where standing up to bullies is more important than ever, his courage and integrity set a powerful example for all of us.”
