Who doesn’t love a good trip down memory lane? Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell did just that recently when they stumbled upon their 1987 romantic comedy, Overboard, while getting cozy in bed. Goldie, who’s now 74, shared the heartwarming story during a lively appearance on Watch What Happens Live, gushing about the unexpected joy of revisiting their cinematic past together.
A Night of Nostalgia
As Goldie recounted to host Andy Cohen, the evening began like any other, but it took an unexpected turn when Overboard came on TV. "It was so fabulous," she reminisced, her voice filled with excitement. "We were like, 'Oh, I remember that one. That was funnier than I thought.'” The couple, who have been together since the late '80s, found themselves laughing and reminiscing about the film's iconic moments. It wasn’t planned, but it turned out to be the perfect way to unwind. "The two of us forgot about what we were going to do and we ended up watching the movie," Goldie shared. "It was great."

A Career Full of Collaboration
Of course, Overboard isn’t the only project where Goldie and Kurt have shared the screen. They’ve worked together multiple times over the years, including the heartwarming holiday flick The Christmas Chronicles in 2018 and its sequel in 2020. Their chemistry is undeniable, and it’s clear they both cherish the memories created during these films. But there’s something special about Overboard that stands out even among their other collaborations. "You know how sometimes you forget why you fell in love?" Goldie mused in a previous interview with James Corden. "I remembered everything, and why I fell in love. It was really something to be able to watch that."

A Family Legacy
By the time Goldie and Kurt made Overboard, which was nominated for an American Comedy Award, they were already parents to their son Wyatt Russell, who’s now 33. Though Wyatt is their only child together, Kurt is also a proud father to his 40-year-old son Boston Russell from his previous marriage to Season Hubley, and he serves as a loving stepdad to Goldie’s children, Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson, from her marriage to Bill Hudson. Their family dynamic is as unique as it is loving, and it’s clear that their bond extends beyond the screen.
